I did a search; nothing came up. I saw this video on Delta's Facebook page and thought I'd share for those that haven't seen and are interested. Looks pretty good to me! A significant upgrade over the former NW cabin, and a step in the right direction.

A definite upgrade, the old interiors were looking very very worn. I'm not a huge fan of the 'leather' seats on long haul but whatever they've done is a big upgrade from previous. Was this a rip out the entire interior from nose to tail, seats, carpet, panels, bins, the works and rebuild with new everything? I can imagine this is far from a quick process so when will the entire 744 fleet be upgraded?

I like that they did the ENTIRE cabin and not just the Premium section . We have as good or better in the 1st class and businewss cabin but NOT in economy at UAL So whomever DAL used they did a damn good JOB!

Is N670US still the only carrier to have the new refurbished seats? Shes been only operating LAX-NRT-LAX route for weeks now.

Isn't the Economy product the same as AA's new product being introduced on their 77W's later this year on DFW-GRU?

Since the merger, shouldn't the 747 become the Flagship rather than the 777?? Just look at that beauty!!

Recently traveled JFKNRT on DL in the back. Embarassing, really, compared to the Asian carriers.

The cabin looks great, nicely done Delta. One question, does anyone know why UA has decided against AVOD on the B744? Just curious.

Likely due to the A350's entering service by the time they could convert the 744 fleet. They are, however, planning to add some sort of wireless streaming video IFE system.

I agree. This refit will make DL much more competitive on Transpac flights. Believe it or not, passengers WILL pay a bit more for superior service on long-haul flights.

Numerous reasons:

1) being that most passengers bring their own entertainment with them
2) That entertainment most likely has Wi-FI capabilities (iPad, Laptop etc..)
3) Saves on weight for those ULH flights to Australia and Asia.
4) They are not willing to invest so many dollars for a product-744- that isn't going to be around to truly gets its money worth.

Just a few possibilities.

Hmm,
If it was because of numbers 1 and 2, no airline could justify AVOD.
As for 3, well the weight saved is taken up by personal applicances the passengers bring aboard.

I think number 4 is the most realistic option. Either that or UA really cannot be bothered to upgrade anything and will continue to offer an inferior service to maximise profits after the merger.

That is what annoyed me about the UA/CO merger. They got UA management, who from my reckoning were far inferior to the CO bosses.

New seats + AVOD are about the same weight as the old seats without AVOD.

While it's great to see the upgrade completed, that sort of interior has been the bare minimum for years now around the world; also, I've flown DL enough to know that the actual service won't come anywhere near what you get on a carrier like JL or NH. Until there is a *serious* price advantage for DL, I'm going to stick with JL and NH for my trans-pac flights.

Yes, they're pretty much the same seat, but AA took their current power outlets a step higher and installed them on every seat. The seat-back pocket looks nicer on AA's as well.

United completed their 747 conversions almost four years ago. It didn't make sense then to add AVOD and it certanly doesn't now. Both Ua (2007) and now Co (2011) managment teams came to that same conclusion. I don't know DL's retirement plans for their 747s, but United's is in 2016/2017.

A.netters have been talking about this impending mass exodous from UA due to their lack of PTVs on the 744s going back 10+ years. It still hasn't happened, and the UA Transac network is still operating as robustly as ever.

I wish we could have a DL 744 here at SFO. They have a direct SFO-NRT but they don't operate a 744 on that route for some reason. In fact, no carrier JL.NH,or UA uses 744 aircraft from San Francisco to Japan anymore. I remember seeing a DL 744 in Manila las year in May.

I worked on this airplane since she went into service back in 1989. Delta's new interior and new AVOD system is a HUGE plus! Delta, as usual, did an incredible job. Be patient, guys. There are 16 airplanes to change and that can't be done over night!

And to the writer who said the Japanese flight attendant was so great--you are spot on! All of the Pacific Division f/a's are organized, professional and incredibly funny away from the passengers. For that matter, the same goes for all the US based ones. Twenty-two thousand strong and proud. It has been an honor and a privilege to share my life with them.

I am very happy for DL and for the frequent users of their trans-Pac services. This is a great improvement.

Questions, though:

The IFE is the same as in the 777s?

Why did they go with the 777 herringbone C-Class layout instead of the beautiful C-Class seats of the 764s?

Quoting AF022 (Reply 7):

+ 1. I did JFK-ICN with KE and NRT-JFK with DL in May of last year and there was simply no point of comparison!

Me neither. Leather seats are one of the few faults I find in the new DL product.

Next flights: MEX-GRU (AM 77E), GRU-GIG (JJ A320), SDU-CGH (G3 73H), GRU-MEX (JJ A332).
