PIA are temporarily discontinuing flights to Bangkok, Jakarta, Kuala Lumpar, Hong Kong, Athens and Tripoli due to aircraft shortages.Several aircraft are ground because spare parts are not available. These cut backs were necessary to reduce losses and the disruption to the schedule.

Interesting! where did you get this information from? all of the routes mentioned are served by the A310, so the part of them being grounded and short of spares sounds dubious to me, yes! they need more of the type, wish PK get it through their thick skulls, I just flew PIA last night from Islamabad to Karachi and the state of the leased Cathay Pacific 747-300 I was on was pretty bad, so it says alot about the state of the airline wonder if theyll survive Confused

I am sure they will survive. PIA desperatley needs a overhaul of their fleet. The A300s/B747s need/have to be replaced. While the B733s and A310s are modern enough, so can stay....

By the way, out of interest, what aircarft does PIA operate to Colombo (Sri Lanka)? Since the bombing some 3 weeks ago, have they shifted to a smaller aircraft?

They are discontinuing because some or all of their A300s are grounded and some of their 747-200s are grounded as well as their Cargo 707s.

That's why they need to shuffle around with their schedule. Why can't they just go on sale or merge with Emirates?
