It's the beginning of a new chapter at Southwest Airlines as the first 2 737-800's enter revenue service this morning. One originates in Chicago and the other will originate in Baltimore. Good Luck Southwest.

There is one of the flights. At least flightware is listing it as a 738, considering they have issues in showing most/all WN flights as 733

Yeah this mornings inaugural 738 flight from MDW WN1717 shows up as 733. The inbound flight from FLL WN1806 is showing as 738.

That's correct. The internal designator is 73H for all ETOPS -800's and then the 5 leased birds we get this year (starting with 8600) will be NON-ETOPS and they'll be shown as a 738.

I still don't understand why WN doesn't publish aircraft information in their flight schedules. Is there any place where you can see in advance if a flight is going to be on a 735, 733, 73G, or 738?

Well, more than likely its because it wouldn't be too reliable as often time birds swap out.

Yea, but coupled with open seating and the fact that it happens waaaaaaaaaaaay more frequently they probably just don't think passengers care enough.

Expertflyer will show it. Of course, I've had flights that EF shows a 735 and a 73G shows up, so obviously things are subject to change.
