Hey everyone,
On the night of August 2nd, I flew on DL flight 384 to ATL from SFO. The aircraft was a Boeing 763. I was seated in row 42 of the plane. At about row 35 or so, there was an additional projector hung from the center bins. Infront of that, there was an area where a screen hung.
The screen looked like it was metalic. It did not fold up. It resembled a table top. Shortly after take off, the flight attendants latched the "Danglescreen" fromt eh ceeling, and people in the back of the plane could enjoy the movie.
Has anyone else seen the Danglescreen? Is it really safe? Image that thing swinging during turbulence. It could probably wack someone on the head.

yep, on a 763 from DFW-JAX they put the screen up to show the safety demo video and then took it down. They did not show a movie on it but yeah I guess they hook into something under the centeraisle overhead baggage compartments.

...Hmm...it seems like they would be really hard to get down during turbulence...we had a very bumpy ride to denver on a 767 with the screens like that one time...I mean really rough lol...and they didnt budge...and I was watching the attendants trying to take them down...A male flight attendant wasnt able to get it down alone so it takes two people...must be pretty sturdy...

I've seen this used quite often although I'm usually seated far forward.
As best as I can tell, the screen doesn't dangle, but is quite rigid; it's held in by two twist-locks at the top. I should think that it is rigid enough not to sway during turbulence.
