Has BWIA decided to keep their MD-80's? I recently noticed that 9Y-THQ has been repainted in the new livery....does anyone have any information about this.

Hey,

Well the 737-800's are suppose to replace them but I guess they are gonna keep them for a while. They have been having alot of financial problems lately including their Tristar fleet and the replacement aircraft. Does anyone know about the latest tristar news with BWIA?

BWIA plans to keep the MD80s for a few more years yet. That is the latest I heard from an F/A on my last flight to LHR at the end of July. Indeed 2 of the planes have been repainted while 2 remain in the old scheme - those two are the only 2 active planes in the old colours.

"Voodoo" that is the third MD-80 in the new scheme. 9Y-THW was also painted earlier this year. By the way, anyone noticed that 9Y-THQ is a MD-82 not a MD-83 like the rest of the BWIA's "MD" fleet. Now 9Y-THX is the last plane to have the old livery.
