According to insider info from another site, Delta will be introducing a new safety video starring Richard Anderson himself. Deltalina will have a cameo role in this new video.
I will miss Deltalina's finger wag, but hopefully this new video is good. IMO Deltalina should record the new voice for The Plane Train at ATL when Concourse F opens.

Hopefully this one will be a little shorter--I feel like the current video just lags and takes forever.
Also, I hope they cut out the cutesy stuff. If you're gonna incorporate chessy elements like the finger wag and the guy's sparkling tooth, you have to totally commit to the idea, like Air New Zealand's body paint and Richard Simmons videos. Random inserts in an otherwise straightlaced video just come across as odd.

Good. About time. I was tired of that stupid video the third time I saw it. Hopefully, it will be something more neutral sticking to planes and basic safety without making frequent fliers run for ear plugs and eye masks before take off!

The most recent one was extremely popular and generated a ton of good press. Mission accomplished. They all get old after a while. Even the NZ one (which was excellent).
Anderson's current opener is seriously dry. Hopefully he'll be more personable if this is true

I agree. NZ's are obviously rediculous meaning they can get away with it. Also they update them fairly regularly meaning that they don't get too old.
QF's John Travolta safety demonstration, on the other hand, was just downright lame. The into and ending had Travolta, but with a completely straight faced traditional safety video in between. He was just completely out of place. Thankfully it got cut after 6 months since it wasn't even good the first time.

I didn't think it was the best idea we could've made. Yes, it was a departure from the conventional, and a novel idea, but how long can you really go on with something like that.
Quoting 1337Delta764 (Reply 4): Deltalina will at least have a cameo role in the new video from what I heard.
Yeah, it's the old "veteran passing the torch to the all-star draft pick" scenario. Now that she's married, and off the market, they have to find another bit of crumpet to strut across the screen.
I know a few people who went down to audition for it, and I couldn't help but laugh.
Glad I am not the only one who felt that way. It was half way between amusing and annoying the first time I saw it ... and all downhill from there. I actually thought about writing delta about it, but didn't.

Good for them if it got tem press but yes it was annoying. Maybe they should change more often. Although I understand they are probably difficult to make, with lots of safety and regulatory concerns. Another one which is getting very old is their partner AF's one.

Finally.
Hopefully they get rid of that creepy guy with the gold tooth, and the "SMOKIN'S NOT ALLOWED" part. I guess it would be okay if they filled their whole video with humor, but I just can't take them seriously.
My favorite DL video was with the background music that went: duhhhda duhhhda duhhhda duhhhda duhda da da and had this blue background.
It seems all US majors are coming out with a new video this year. UA/AA came out with a new one this Winter, DL this Spring, and US will have a new one this summer.

Thank goodness. The current video is cheesy and too long. The most fun I've had with it is timing the length of it versus other carriers. At one point UA's video was a full minute shorter. Hopefully the new one is professional and to the point.

At first it wasn't that long. What really killed it was the merger and all the extra a/c types, doors/exits and equipment types/locations. If you look at the first vid from when it came out it was much shorter, had better flow and made more "sense." The doors, equipment and differences are spliced in and it feels choppy and awkward.
My comments/opinions are my own and are not to be construed as the opinion(s) of my employer.
