This thread is a continuation of Mexican Aviation X - Guadalupe Reyes (by Aeolus Dec 1 2011 in Civil Aviation) since it has over 200 posts.

Where it left off...

SSJ 100s for Interjet are delayed. The airline was expected to receive 4 frames this year but now will only have one SSJ100 delivered.

Thomson first international airline to fly the 787 to Mexico starting summer 2013 to CUN.

and Eddie asked this about AM schedule change to the AM MEX-IAD flights:

Quoting EddieDude (Reply 217):
What do you think of the schedules for MEX-IAD? Mexicana757 told us:

Quoting Mexicana757 (Reply 133):
Aeromexico will start flights to IAD May 21. AM will fly the route daily with 737s. Flights are bookable on their website. I wish AM good luck on this route. Lets see if the redeye works for them in this new destination. I wonder if having the aircraft RON at IAD would be better and have a departure around 8am.

AM 622 MEX 6:00pm- 11:20pm IAD
AM 623 IAD 1:15am- 5:00am MEX

Now, I just found this site:

http://www.airlinesanddestinations.c...on-dulles-and-san-salvador-in-may/

It seems AM has retimed its flights and there will be no red-eye return flight (which I think is good). I personally think the outbound flight's schedule is good for someone who needs to work the full day in Mexico City before going to the airport, but I can appreciate that many people will hate it and that it will no doubt be annoying to commute from Dulles to Washington proper and points in the metro area at such late hours. What do you guys think?

AM 622 MEX 6:00pm- 11:20pm IAD
AM 623 IAD 1:15am- 5:00am MEX

Based on the experience of the Central American airlines, the red-eye pattern is apparently doing well for years in selected flights leaving from the United States.
Thus, CM and especially TA are getting very early departures from LAX, IAD, JFK, ORD and so forth.
By the way, thank you for the new thread. I will follow it.

One step forward for SSJ100 program. Mexico's civil aviation authority provided the certificate to operate the aircraft in the country without restrictions:

Mexican authorities approve Superjet

By: David Kaminski-Morrow London 12:19 25 Apr 2012

Mexican authorities have certificated the Sukhoi Superjet 100 ahead of deliveries to local carrier Interjet later this year. The Direccion General de Aeronautica Civil provided a type certificate validation to Sukhoi's civil aircraft division on 16 April, the airframer states.

"This document confirms the compliance of the [Superjet] to the certification requirements of the Mexican aviation authority and allows the delivery and operations of aircraft of such a type in Mexico without limitations," it adds.

Sukhoi Civil Aircraft first vice-president for development and certification Igor Vinogradov says the confirmation is "important" for the delivery to Interjet, which has 15 Superjets on order. The first will arrive at the end of this year.

Interjet's first plane serial number is 95023.

There are still flights bookable on AM in Oct, Nov etc. on the route on their website. Frequency is down to Fri/Sat/Sun in fall but still there.

If I remember right it is not the first time the route has shown as cut in the OAG thread then the change is reversed a week or so later.

Do any of you think there will be any fall out for Interjet due to the SuperJet crash? Will they reconsider their order?

However startup dates were not given, the new owners will first restructure debt. Hopefully this time around it'll lead to something more than just more waiting around.

Difficult to say, but I think Interjet will keep the order.

Interjet posted in their website a statement about the accident:

Interjet is following up the evolution of this unfortunate event and if so to the progress of the corresponding investigation; Interjet confirms it will continue with its current business plan...

In my opinion, there is no other alternative for Interjet left.
