Vision Air Announces 8 Ciites to MYR

At a press conference this afternoon at 4pm at Abraham Lincoln Capital Airport in Springfield, Illinois it was announced that starting May 31, 2012 Vision Airlines would fly from SPI to MYR twice a week with 737 service. Vision Airlines was also the airline that provided the air service to RSW for both SPI and RFD after the collapse of Direct Air. I am always pleased when these smaller regional airports acquire new air service when that task is usually quite difficult for them in the current economic climate.

I feel the same way when they land someone like Frontier, AirTran, Spirit...etc. With Vision, you don't know what their plan will be in a few months.

Maybe they will have a better "VISION" by having operations in a city where they can make money.

Good Luck to Vision! My friends at V2 told me they are all excited about this. Looks like they are happy with the company's choice to go into MYR. V2 has already posted their flight schedule.

Interesting...for a flight schedule that will start in a month, haven't heard a peep out of the TOL Port Authority about any new service. Not that it is really a shock and all, but you know. How realistic is this?

I wonder how excited everyone was about VPS.

At least all of this has a chance until fall. Everyone involved better hope they have a spare, on the ground in MYR with a crew ready to fly it.

Very true. The crews have been at MYR before from working Direct Air flights. So they have an idea what to expect and the layover hotel is suppose to be nice.

As far as a spare, supposedly when one of their 737-400 returns from MTX they will have an extra 737 plus the 767 sitting around avail in case anything happens. Seems like they have no work for the 767 as of May 1st.

Saw Vision's 762 at RSW the past two Sundays (15th & 22nd) sitting idle on the PrivateSky FBO ramp. I'm sure the crew doesn't mind spending time in SW Florida between flights.

Vision Adds Myrtle Beach-Springfield Route; Rockford Says No

"Mike Dunn, economic development and government affairs director at Chicago Rockford International Airport, said Vision also offered service between Rockford and Myrtle Beach this summer. But the Suwanee, Ga., charter carrier wanted a revenue guarantee for the route.

"We do not think it to be a good destination for us at this time," said Dunn via text message today."

Myrtle Beach Service Returning To Capital Airport

What is the status of the G4 MYR focus city? I thought I heard a while back that they cut some cities.

I'm kind of surprised they didn't try to capture this traffic with service out of PIA. DirectAir had been serving the SPI route for a decent amount of time, it must have been somewhat profitable.

I was thinking maybe G4 would go to BMI, but I'm curious how well they are doing out of there now that they are going head-to-head with more frequent service to MCO on F9.

Something amusing as we are discussing on FlyTOL.com, Vision made the step to push this service...airports really didn't ask for it. With that in mind, shared the news on the Toledo Express Facebook page, since nothing came out of the TOL Port Authority...shouldn't take an independent group to post news like this.

You'd think TOL would be advertising this like crazy! Looking at how much they've shrunk over the last 10 years, you'd think they'd be ecstatic about a new destination.

Its finally hitting the local media now. They need to drill in to people that massive cost advantage of this service from Toledo over Detroit. People will save $45 to $150 round trip on this over Spirit & Delta. This is what TOL travelers have been wanting for years, now they have to use it.

This is why I have my reservations (no pun intended) about this announcement. Then again, I think that most of Direct AIr's routes were viable—it was their business model that wasn't.

Most of the city pairs look good. A couple I would be concerned with. However, the fares look attractive and competitive. Their fare/fee rules aren't too insane.
