Status Of Qatar Plan To Fly Iran Domestic Flights?

Some of you may recall from a few months back that Qatar Airways and Iranian officials announced plans for the airline to begin operating domestic flights in Iran as part of a massive expansion into Iran. There was a fair amount of press coverage of the announcement at the time, along with a couple of anet threads, but the whole thing appears to have since died away:

Looking at Qatar Airways latest expansion plans for 2012 Iran is ominously absent

Does anyone know the actual status of Qatar's supposed Iran expansion? I'm now wondering whether the whole thing was just a PR stunt.

As predicted, it will never happen!
Now it's been officially announced by the Iranian minister of roads and transport (Ali Nikzad).
He also states that QR was supposed to operate under an Iranian airline's callsign.

I can't say that I'm surprized by this, IMHO it always looked like a long shot.

Unfortunately I can't read the article you posted (I presume it's Farsi) did the article happen to specify the exact reason(s) why the project has been a failure?

The stated reason by the minister in this article is just a short expression: "sanctions and economical war against Iran"!
