Bmibaby Cuts All From BHD, 7 From EMA, 2 From BHX?

From TheHUBroutes, a part of routesonline, WW will cease all routes from BHD, 7 from EMA, and 2 from BHX.

Surely not a coincidence that BE yesterday announced a new EMA base with two aircraft and five routes (AMS, CDG, EDI, GLA, JER) - all presently operated by WW. Or that MON has announced a new EMA base.

Hopefully more details soon...

It's going around on twitter that WW will completely cease operations from September.

More info from BBC. Looks like June 11 is the key date.

Coincidentally, I'm scheduled to fly BHX-AMS on WW on June 11, and return on the 13th.

Cheers,

From 11h June, these routes will won't operate:

BHD-ALC; AMS; BHX; EMA; FAO; IBZ; MAH; AGP; PMI; STN.

BHX-AMS; BHD; NOK.

EMA-AMS; BHD; EDI; GVA; GLA; NQY; NCE; CDG.

A number of routes will also cease on the 8th or 9th Sept, although they look very summer-seasonal anyway - or is that the end?!

Unfortunately, it looks like it will be the end.

Sad to see; Baby has been around for 10 years; they were good to fly with, (mostly) good value (and a hell of a lot better value than Flybe) ... they'll certainly be missed, particularly down here in Jersey.

It'll be interesting to see who will expand first at EMA; I hadn't known that MON had opened a base there, but I can imaginee that even at this moment, FR and U2 are planning route announcements ... just hoping that EMA-JER is on U2's radar!

Seems so!

I'd like to see that, too, especially given some impressively low fares with EZY to JER. E.g. I've paid £12.99 or thereabouts one-way incl. taxes for LPL-JER and I saw last week JER-SEN for £8.99 one-way incl taxes. Alas, I don't think they'll operate EMA-JER. (I remember when EZY flew LTN-JER. I paid around £10 one-way incl. taxes then.)

Same here.

EasyJet is on record as saying it is considering more routes from Jersey and if the airline was to return to East Midlands I am sure it would be a route that the local authorities would actively try and pursue.

That's not to say that Flybe isn't welcome on the route, but East Midlands to Jersey is a long served and well established route. In order to maintain and encourage demand, particularly for tourism, then an airline like easyJet or Jet2 is much better suited. I have similar feelings about Manchester to Jersey, which is now flown by BE and SI.

This has got BA's horrible finger-prints to it. With the Flybe EMA announcement and all.

Horrible news! I had so many great flights with them from PRG to MAN, route which they ceased to operate a year ago. They still fly to EMA and BHX though from PRG. Will those routes be cut too?

I hope WW survives, its a really nice LCC to fly with, the crews were always excelent and flights on-time

I am really sad about this    I was hoping that someone would step in and save WW, but it seems not. The only good news for me is that we will see Monarch at EMA for the first time I think.

Thank you WW for some brilliant flights. I have always had brilliant crew and wonderful flights. You will be missed!!!!

Very pleased Monarch are moving in on EMA. Excellent airline and I am sure they'll do the routes justice. FlyBe on the other hand I wouldn't touch with a barge pole. Over priced and one would think, utilising props, that the lower costs would be reflected in the fares but not so... from what I have experienced.

It's sad Baby couldn't make it work. I had the chance to fly them in their first year of operation and then a few years later, several times. A great airline but there was something fundamentally wrong with it. Be its inability to compete with Ryanair or Easyjet or just maintain its head above water... I'm sad, and also angry that whoever is to blame for the lack luster performance, has stood by and watched the airline hemorrhage millions.

A sad end but hopefully one that will result in more routes and more variety in terms of aircraft type for routes in and out of EMA.

Ryanair has already responded with rescue fares.

All pax affected from BHD, can now rebook with Ryanair to fly from Londonderry or Dublin.
Pax affected from BHX, can rebook with Ryanair to fly from East Midlands.

The rescue fare is GBP 29.99 per flight. Not too bad. The summer flights are quite expensive already.

I'm sure you mean LH's horrible finger prints?

They are the one's who failed to invest and who dragged staff through the ever increasing changes in bases etc.

BA have made it clear that it is sell up or shut -up. Hardly their fault since they have managed baby for all of - oh - 14 days.
LH had 10 years?

Bit of proportion here, please.

On a general level, how much impact will this have at BHD?.

All FlyBE + BMI/BA to LHR. There are also a couple of flights to IOM and ORK I believe?

It's a shame.

I just won't travel and spend my birthday in the UK for once. Considering I only paid something silly like £40 r/t its not a huge loss, and I inexplicably hesitated on booking accommodation for my trip, so I've not lost anything else. I'll probably go else where later in the summer, might try LH's new BHX-BER route

This should all make for some interesting conversation in the FR crew room at BHX this morning.

Cheers,

THEY'VE cancelled the flight - surely you'd get a full refund and you shouldn't lose anything???
