Eight plans may produce 20-25 departures daily. I don't think that would pose a problem. In return, Germanwings will for instance reduce frequencies on the CGN-LIS route, and there may be other cutbacks I am not aware of. Ryanair is incredibly good at identifying voids early that they may be able fill to fill. Also, TAP may very well lose ground in direct competition with FR.

Interesting move by Ryanair. I suppose Portugal is a logical next step for them - they already have a big presence in Porto and Faro, so Lisbon kind of completes the set. I wonder if we will see them start flights to FNC any time soon?
They also seem to be going head-to-head with easyJet on a number of routes - I think BRS, EDI, BER, LON (doesn't say which airport), BCN and ROM all clash.

Very nice, gives me another option to fly to the Canaries and Madeira. And with LIS I have another airport to connect in when flying to family in Groningen from Budapest.

I was under the impression U2 had exclusivity for Lisbon as their base has just opened. This could be the start of a low cost war. Fr is increasingly moving in on U2 area of operation.
One thing that puzzles is where are fr going to aircraft in 2013 as last deliveries are for this year. As yet no new order for fr.
This means they will have to prob drop 8 a/c from somewhere else.

They have a lot of room to manouvre , especially in Winter when over 80 planes are parked. Take Budapest for example, after the collapse of Malev they opened a base within 2 weeks.
