There was a small blurb in the latest AvWeek on a Southwest request to start international services from Houston Hobby. Key points from the article:
- Southwest is proposing Houston build an international terminal with 5 gates, allowing up to 25 daily departures to Mexico City, San Juan, Puerto Rico, Other Caribbean and South American cities.
- United has "unleashed" a major lobbying effort to try to block the deal.

WN @ HOUS doesn't need an international terminal or gate for arrivals from SJU or from an international airport with U.S. port of entry facilities (like AUA or YYC).
Had HOU been interested in international flights, that airport would had moved long ago its F.I.S. from a FBO-like building to next or somewhere in the main terminal providing it with a dedicated gate.
Now WN is going to have a tough time against UA "anti-iHOU international terminal" lobby.
