I just received my Jepp update with the new terminal on it last week. I don't get through ATL often, but I'm definitely looking forward to heading down to check it out sometime soon.

Quoting PHX787 (Reply 4): Is the train going to be going over there yet, or do we have to take a bus?
Just wondering, don't know much about the Plane Train
The train has been operational for weeks but the station from E to get to F had been blocked off. It will be open tomorrow..

There's suppose to be a water salute for the inbound flight. I'll be on deck taking lots of pictures. I'll be sure to post them tomorrow when I can.

Quoting legacyins (Reply 7): How many gates will the new International Terminal have and will they still use any other Terminal for International arrivals?
12. And yes, E will still be used for international flights, as well.

All check in and baggage for international flights will be through the new terminal Landside, even for flights leaving from E. This is going to be very confusing for a lot of people for the first few months. If a flight has a domestic leg first it will still be routed through the old West Landside for ticketing and baggage. I bet a lot of people are going to end up at the wrong side of the airport. There is a free shuttle bus between the two landsides, but its going to be a hassle for those that are late and at the wrong side. Also the traffic on the approach road to the new terminal might be crazy. DL TechOps and DL Cargo are on the same road.

My Flighttrack app is showing DL177 as arriving at gate E7...im not ATL expert and never been there but it seems that this is not the new Intl Terminal gate but on Concourse E?

All the new road signs that have been covered up for the past few months were uncovered last night. There is like 5 signs within 2 miles saying Domestic this way, International this way. But you know people will still show up at the wrong side anyway lol

Quoting cokepopper (Reply 12): So the first arrival is the flight from Dublin that has been pre-cleared customs and immigration?
That's been bugging the crap out of me, too!! I participated in a simulation exercise of the new terminal a couple of weeks ago, and my "flight" was to/from Shannon, which I thought was so silly for the same reason.
Strangely, it seems that every single international flight (including precleared flights from Canada, Mexico, Bahamas, Ireland, etc.) will be at E or F. There is a single baggage carousel in the new terminal outside the CBP area that I assume will be used for these flights since passengers will not deplane through the lower level international arrivals area. I do wonder, though, whether Air Canada flights that currently use Concourse D (outside the new complex) have moved their check-in facilities to the new terminal.
As a note, there are now two FIS facilities--one in E and one in F. All passengers arriving in F will clear FIS in F. All Atlanta-terminating passengers arriving in either E or F will clear in F. Only connecting passengers arriving in E will clear in E.

I am scheduled to fly to SFO on DL on Friday on an international 767. I wonder if Delta will do any domestic flights out of F like they currently do from time to time from E. Right now, if an international flight comes in at E and its next mission is domestic, the flight departs from E rather than being towed to one of the domestic concourses.

Concourse F is readily accessible from any of the other concourses without any additional screening. You can walk from the east end of E (past gates E14-E17) via a pedestrian tunnel and the train continues from the main E station. I'm pretty sure I read that the gates would be available to use for domestic flights if needed, too.

I assume if someone is going domestic and they check in at that side of the airport they can still proceed through security and at the new terminal and go to there gates on the domestic concourses?

The Varsity is one. Just what I want before I get on a long flight. I think there is also an Asian place plus a couple of others including a Stella Artois bar.
