I'm considering doing some shooting at YYZ. I have plenty of information about shooting locations but from those familiar with the airport I would be interested to hear which days are best if I want to see specific international flights.

I believe that Air Ukraine is on Monday's only. Is that correct? What about LOT, Finnair, and some of the other international airlines that don't fly daily? What about cargo operators? For the daily flights are there some days when they come in earlier than others (preferably before sundown) and so would be easier to photograph?

I am planning to be in the area for a week or so and I can arrange to go on the more interesting days assuming that the weather cooperates.

Everyday is pretty much the same. But on Saturdays and Mondays you get an IL-62, other then that everything is pretty much daily.

Thanks Slawko but considering that LOT, Finnair, Air Ukraine, El Al, and probably a few others don't fly every day I was really hoping for a bit more detail. I realize that Virgin, Lufthansa, Alitalia, KLM, BA, and some other large airlines are daily but its the non-daily ones that I care about.

Does Aeroflot fly daily? What about Korean? BWIA? LTU? Malev?

Here's some info. from an authority at YYZ:

Air Ukraine - arrives Saturday around 2pm and leaves on Monday ; Cubana arrives Sunday between 4-5pm and leaves an hour later ; El Al arrives Sunday morning at 6:30 and leaves around noon ; SAS does not fly into YYZ anymore ; SATA arrives Saturday between 6:30pm-7:30pm leaves after 9 ; Czech arrives Saturday 2pm out by 5 ; Aeroflot arrives Sunday around 3:30pm and leaves around 5 using either 767 or A310 equipment ; Guyana has gone belly-up ; Lauda will subbing for one of Austrian flights beginning in October ; BWIA is a Sunday flight arriving 1:30pm and leaves 3:30pm ; Eurofly/Alitalia should arrive Sunday at 1:30 and out by 5 but today's flight was cancelled ; Virgin is daily arriving at 6pm and out by 8:30pm ; BA has 2 flights, one arriving at 2pm and leaves at 6:15 just as the second flight arrives using a 777 ; Finnair is on Sunday arriving after 6pm ; LTU arrives on Wednesdays only ; Austrian is daily except Fridays arriving at 2:30pm leaving at 6:15 from the infield cargo area.

Here are a couple others of interest. Canada 3000 A330 Sunday arrival 3:50pm ; Air France A340 Sunday arrival 4pm ; KLM 747-300 Sunday at 4:15pm ; Air Canada A330 seem to arrive at 3:30-4pm Sunday ; Canada 3000 A310 Sunday 4:10pm and Alitalia Team 747 Sunday arrival at 4:20pm.

When are you going? I'm planning on going up there around Sept. 7-9.

Cactus A319,

Thanks for the information. That should help me out a lot.

I will probably be going within the next week or two since I want to maximize the amount of time that I can shoot before sunset and unfortunately the days are getting shorter all the time.
