A DL 737 and a CO 735 had a near miss at DFW today around 10:00 AM. CO 735 just landed and told to hold short on 28R then the ATC cleared him to taxi scross to 28L where the Delta 737 was taking off. The Delta 737 bound for Oakland, pulled up in time. It circled back around and landed to inspect for damage. The CO 735 had just landed from CLE. It is the 2nd incident at DFW this year. The controller and supervisor are both under suspension for time being. That's all the details for now.

abc's local affiliate here said that the Continental 735 hit the tail skid in order to get a steeper climb to avoid the Delta plane.

Jesus, if I was the pilot of the Delta jet taking off, I would have pissed my pants!  Sad

Blink 182 is a great band!

Well actually it was the other way around.

The Delta B733 had to goto full power and it struck the runway and scraped 8ft. of its aircraft to avoid hitting the CO jet. DL B733 is now in the hangar.

AA777-200, exactly what I was thinking. George Carlin mentions the topic in his book, Napalm and Silly Putty.

I always what happens in situations like these, when pilots save lives with quick thinking. I certainly hope the flight crew gets a medal or some kind of bonus from Delta for this (and Continental as well, think Tenerife on a smaller scale)

Anyway, you'd better look left and right before crossing a runway...

Lol, I was just going to bring up George Carlin's book. That book is the funniest thing, lol.  Smile/happy/getting dizzy It has a whole thing on why a near-miss is actually a hit if you think about it. Anyways, at least nobody was hurt.
