Hi, I got confused with what CX meant on its fleet of B777.
I think the 77W means B777-300ER with old fish bone type business class and the infamous horrible non-reclining economy. I also think the 77D means the B777-300ER with new business class and still the horrible economy class. What would be the coding for B777 that has the new business class, new economy premium plus the new economy class? Can someone also share the same coding for their fleet of B747 and A330. Thanks

When I made a reservation two weeks ago, it showed "77W" with a seatmap that didn't match any of the published seatmaps on the CX website.

In the interim, my flight has been changed to an aircraft with the Premium Economy, and it's still showing "77W."

It seems that CX is using 77W for all configurations at the moment.

772 - 777-200, regional
773 - 777-300, regional
77A - 777-300ER with F, herringbone J and old Y
77D - 777-300ER with F, new J and old Y
77G - 777-300ER with new J, Y+ and new Y
77H - 777-300ER with F, new J, Y+ and new Y.

744s aren't getting new J or Y, only having Y+ fitted. Same with the A343s.

74A - 747-400 with F, old J and old Y
74K - 747-400 with F, old J, Y+ and old Y.

330 - A333, regional
33B - A333 with old J and old Y
33E - A333 with new J and old Y
33G - A333 with new J, Y+ and new Y.

So you'll find your answer above. You can go to flyertalk for more in-depth info..

I see all 5 777-300 seat maps up on the site now.

They are up there ... however this is the seat map I was shown when booking. It still doesn't match a single seat map on the site.

Right. I remember seeing that somewhere on flyertalk but I can't seem to find it. Some sort of error on CX's behalf I think - dating back to their server migration. But the lavatory where it is suggests it's a 77H and the Y+ is being sold as Y or something like that.

This occurred quite a while after the server migration, so I'm not sure it's an artifact of that.

The aircraft has indeed been changed to one with Y+, but it's still showing as 77W. Y+ is not available for seat selection -- and I'm not in one of the lowest fare buckets: I chose a fair bucket that would allow me to upgrade to J if I have enough miles.

Originally I'd selected a seat that is actually in Y+. When the aircraft type was changed, that caused some problems for the seat selection. CX rearranged my seat, but it wasn't showing on the seat map and I couldn't change my seat. Had to call reservations to get it sorted out.

Thanks for all the response.
I just checked my flight on June 4th from HK to ORD. It stated 77W. I remember this was one of the first route to be equipped with 77D, do anyone know what happen? Simply plane rotation?

77W just means 777-300ER. With 4 different 777-300ER configurations in the fleet at the moment and plenty of last-minute aircraft swaps with maintenance rotations and weather-related delays, perhaps it is easier for the airline to just write 77W and leave it as a surprise for what aircraft turns up on the day!
