AA And AR Each Boost Capacity On MIA-EZE

Pardon me if this is a re-posting, or not considered earth-shattering to those who monitor the schedules frequently, but I found it very interesting that both AR and AA have loaded extra daily services each on the MIAEZE legs, and each one being a DAYLIGHT flight at that! I mean, they literally both seemed to load the extra flights within 20 mins of each other.

AA999 MIA1045 – 2140EZE 777 D
AA934 EZE1100 – 1805MIA 777 D
AR1304 EZE0845 – 1655MIA 343 D
AR1305 MIA1900 – 0500+1EZE 343 D

What I find intriguing is that AA is sending their largest aircraft (that is, pre-77W deliveries) with an F cabin on the daylight flight, when arguably the premium traffic/demand normally opts for the overnight flights given that timing and scheduling is more convenient. Even though the 772s will be reconfigured to a 2-class (J, Y) layout sometime later on down the road, certainly AA will be flying F seats around on these flights for a little while. Why did they not start out with a 767? Especially since MIAGRU doesn't even go year-round with its daytime flight, and I am pretty sure that has always used a 767.

Also interesting to note just given that both carriers are not in the best financial conditions at this time, but are obviously bullish on protecting marketshare on this route, often rumored to be highly lucrative.

If the daylight AA flight were to be a 763, then AA would need to operate a 763 on a redeye service, hence its a 777, just like the daylight MIAGRU flight which was also just loaded (starts December).

The daylight AR flight is supposed to stop in Caracas both ways, but AR hasn't secured traffic rights.

I suppose if DFWEZE were staying 763, then AA could work in some sort of rotation on the red-eye, but DFWEZE is going 777 in October.

That's only half the story. The schedule works to reduce the number of planes on the ground in EZE. Currently AA has 4 planes sitting all day at EZE. New schedule will have three on the ground.

Airplanes will route:
MIA-EZE 1045-2140
EZE-MIA 2350-0645

MIA-EZE 2030-0720
EZE-MIA 1100-1805

AA had to adjust one of the EZE-MIA flights to depart later so that they can utilize the airplane that just flew the daylight MIA-EZE flight. The schedule wouldn't work with a 767 unless they switched one of the redeye flights to a 767.

Thanks for the clarification. That makes complete sense now.

I figure AR is following similar logic, or are they simply trying to avoid AA from swallowing up more of the market share, if not both?

AR is trying to enter the lucrative MIACCS market; if AR gets its way, the flight will be EZE-CCS-MIA vv.
