Goa? r u sure?

The Indian govt. has just liberalised rules to allow outbound charters as well. Which means Indian tourists have cheaper options to Europe which remains by farthe most popular tourist destination among Indians.

Mebbe Condor hopes to tap this market.

but FRA-DXB-GOI on a 757? hmm. wouldnt a widebody be more appropriate?

it would be nice to see Condor at GOI. mebbe they could extend the service to COK and CMB which are also highly popular with the tourists. GOI-COK-TRV is a tourist circuit pretty popular with european tourists.

i´m pretty much sure. that was stated in the Lufthansa company papers.
as for the 757 on the route, i must admit that´s mostly an assumption. on the other routes, except for Marsa alam, aircraft types were given but not for the GOI route, whereas the article states that the aircraft will stop in DXB on the in- and outbound trip.

however, i´ve got DE´s last winter schedule lying right in front of me and according to it DE already served GOI last winter (from MUC, 757 via SHJ).
so i really like to know if this service took place last year or if it didn´t come to be because the indian governemnt didn´t grant approval??? or if it´s just a mistake in the press article and GOI has already been served once by DE...

best wishes
daniel

Hi there,

according to Condor`s new printed timetable (winter 2000/1), GOI will be served from FRA via DXB (stop in both directions) with B752.

Last years´ Condor GOI service was actually a one-stop connection with changing planes in SHJ: DE offered the regular MUC-SHJ(-KTM) flight on Thursday with connection to the Balair flight (guess it was a B752 also) from (ZRH?-)SHJ-GOI. So last year, as in the years before, there wasn´t a real Condor flight to GOI.

Last year, there was a weekly nonstop LTU flight from MUC to GOI, as well as from DUS, both on B763. Unfortunatley this flight did´t last (along with many other LTU flights). Some years ago, LTU offered MUC-GOI-KTM on B763 and before that (at least 6 or 7 years ago) Condor was already in the MUC-GOI-KTM-market (with B752).

By the way, Marsa Alam, their new destination in Egypt, is served from 12 german airports via their winter hub in MUC every monday with one B752/3 flight.

Hope it helps!

Regards, D-AIFB

yeah, i assumed that it would be through connection flights to/from MUC so that marsa alam could be reached from 12 additional airports.

AFAIK, There was NEVER any restriction on inbound charters. 12 airports in India have always been open to charter traffic. The ONLY restriction was on OUTBOUND charters. ie. Indian tourists to Europe would have to take scheduled flights. and there was no restriction on reverse traffic.

now that has been liberalised to allow charters both way, which opens up another revenue stream for cos like Monarch (or so i hear) and Condor.

Really looking forward to seeing more charter ops not just at GOI but across the tourist circuits popular with tourists like AGR and Khajuraho as well. This would go a long way in easing the congestion at the HUbs like BOM and DEL.
