The hybrid scheme.

However, I think it will take longer than Spring of '02 to complete. As of today, only one plane has been completed in the hybrid scheme. That leaves 6-8 months to convert about 175 planes (excluding the DC9's which are not being kept). Pretty aggressive schedule if you ask me.

Actually, I think N923TW now wears the hybrid scheme as well. Regardless, it seems like with the drawdown in flights for the fall schedule that they'll be able to complete the whole project by painting up a couple planes at a time.

Does anyone know when they will get the "AA" titles? I assume probably by spring '03.

They're only flying on TW routes.

I saw the new TWA "hybrid" a few days ago in Las Vegas, parked at the AA gates. It looks like another AA Super 80, just without the black nose.

What I wonder though is why is AA spending the money to strip the paint on TW aircraft while all the ex-Reno a/c still roam around in white paint (which looks terrible if you ask me).

The Reno planes' bodies were anondized (sp?), which means that it cannot be stripped...

Adm84; You are not alone. The ex Reno all white strips are hideous. When I saw the result of the TWA paint stipped off and this is what AA did I thought "This is a damn shame!!! Couldn't AA atleast keep the golden globe logo?" Since I do have a feeling AA will expand more in Asia within the next 10 years thanks to the old TW route authorities. Great logos and paint schemes are hard to comeby in this day and age for the airlines.
