I've been seeing a lot of Alitalia planes in the "new livery", but I cannot spot the different between the new and old colorschemes. Can anybody provide any insight as to what the difference(s) are?

The "new" livery has the cheatline lower (below the windows) and the bottom of the "A" is on the fuselage instead of fully contained on the tail. Old on left, new on right:

Say what you want about AZ, they still have one of the best looking liveries out there............Long Live The Cheatline!

Quoting CapEd388 (Reply 2): I dont know if its just the lighting, but I think the new livery uses a darker green, while the previous livery used lighter shade of green.
Could also be the fact that the green on the older version has faded over the years.
Some more minor changes:
- titles are green instead of black
- there is no more gap where the cheatline curves up into the A on the tail
- the cheatline begins a bit further from the nose

While the quality may not be as good as A.net photos, this side by side shot should make is easier to see the differences: Alitalia liveries at LIN by tearbringer, on Flickr

From what I can tell, the font of the logo has definitely changed. It is not only green but also bigger, taller and is tilted slightly to the right. The old logo looks fatter and shorter.

I completely agree. And I hope we continue to see the green and red "A" for years to come.

Probably were using an old black nose cone that they had lying around. It is pretty common to see airplanes with mismatched nose cones when an airline is going through a livery transition.

This is one of those cases IMHO (like Coca Cola found in the late '90s) where trying to improve on a classic by tweaking it just doesn't work. It looks AWFUL.
Whoever "designed" this modified livery should be shot . . . .

I agree. I remember when the livery was introduced in the early 1970s and saw it for the first time in YYZ on a B747. I thought it was one of the most handsome and modern paint schemes around.

I must say I disagree. I think the refresh was pulled of rather well, and I consider it an improvement from the old one personally. But to each their own.
