They are now saying it was an Allied Air Cargo jet taking off ..they have a 707 and a 727, the latter of which was the plane that crashed as mentioned in the first post. There are 14 deaths sadly, mostly from a bus or van it hit on the ground near the El Wak Sports stadium. I'm listening on the net to Radio XYZ in Accra.

This is terrible. Does anyone know the weather at the time of the crash?

Quoting 71Zulu (Reply 13): Now saying it crashed on landing, and that it landed long on a wet runway and couldn't stop.
Sounds like it shouldn't have landed there at that time, or if an alternate wasn't possible, should've really applied the brakes. Sad to see this happen, RIP to everybody

This accident seems to parallel the WN accident at MDW some years ago. Aircraft lands in bad weather and is unable to stop. Aircraft leaves the runway, leaves the airport property, and impacts vehicles on a busy street nearby. Fatalities in the vehicles struck. Oddly enough, as in the WN accident, the plane is still mostly in one piece.
Sad to see lives lost in another accident, and may the victims R.I.P. Also sad to see a classic 727 lost in a crash. The 727 is probably my second favorite airliner (after the 747), and I wanna see them continuing to fly for as long as I'm around.
