Iraqi are going back to their old colours and have started applying it on the CRJ900 fleet all of which except one were delivered all white with no markings, the first sported the new livery which has been rejected, IA may also cancel remaining four CRJ orders as they want larger aircraft.

I think they should try coming up with another new livery. The one they came up with that they are now replacing was very similar to one of their older liveries, but quite bland and forgettable. Their green one that they are going back too is aged and dry IMO. Oh well.

I know A.NET loves to see airlines bring back liveries from the dark ages and to never modernize their color schemes, and I agree with this from an enthusiast's point of view. However, certain airlines need to re-brand themselves in order to show that they've changed.
I think IA's new livery was a smart way of showing they've "rejuvenated" with new planes, and are trying to enter a new era of operating and service standards. Truthfully, I associate the old IA livery with an airline that operates a sporadic schedule with extremely tired and worn planes. I realize that wasn't IA's fault, but nonetheless I don't think the perception with the old livery is a good one.....

Saudia formerly used green, and to great effect. Personally, I think Iraqi's classic livery is excellent and am happy to see it on new aircraft, though I probably won't get the chance to actually see it in person unless some new 737s are delivered in that livery.

Quoting garpd (Reply 9):
I drew these up when I heard about the Iraqi 737-800 order. (Is that still on the books?)
The top one looks like Braniff Flying Colors, and the bottom one looks like Pakistan Int'l.
I like them both!!!
The catch is that a new Boeing comes with a THREE COLOR paint job; both of the paint schemes you've come up with have more than three colors. So, they'd have to pay extra, which most carriers aren't willing to do.

Are you kidding?? The cost of the paint job is minuscule compared to the cost of a new airliner. Have it delivered in white and get it painted locally if Boeing will only let you have three colours!

No, I'm not kidding. Airlines are out there to make money; adding a more costly paint job does nothing to improve dispatch reliability, operational costs, or fuel consumption. Buying a 738 to replace a 72S does ALL of those things.
Delta: Red, White, and Blue (albeit two shades of red)
AA: Red, White, and Blue
United: White, Gold, and Blue
Alaska: White, Blue and Green
KLM: Blue, Blue and White
Air France: White, Red, and Blue
Lufthansa: White, Purple and Yellow
Air Canada: Red, Toothpaste and Dark Toothpaste
There's no charge for Boeing Wing Gray, i.e., it doesn't seem to count as a color. LH uses a darker shade- I doubt they pay for that.
By and large, you don't see carriers offering diverse, exciting color schemes. Even UA's blue on blue on blue on blue has been done away with.
I really like the designs that BARPD came up with; but I don't expect to see anything as interesting as that gracing the side of a major's airplane for the rest of my life.

At least we have CX and BR which use green as primary colors and those 2 airlines should be around for a long time. I wish SV would ditch that putrid blue and restore the green as well, along with MS bringing back gold and red, those are absolutely classic liveries.
Another color I really miss, yellow. BI is unique, unfortunately it doesn't have extensive network nor larger aircraft to enhance the livery.

First post here.
I must say I am glad they've gone back to this livery. I've always been a fan of it. I'm looking to see a picture of the full aircraft in the livery, and hopefully the 737-700's at some point soon too.
25 OA260: +1 Its an iconic lovely livery . I remember seeing their B747s in LHR as a kid and always loved it . Kudos to them for taking a brave decision and no
26 JoeyTaffy93: Exactly. Now I never actually seen the old livery in person but in photos it looks great. I will hopefully see it one day now that they've returned t
27 777way: I have seen the old livery in person on 747 and An-24 the green was too dark and surprisingly did not look as good as it appears in some photos, on th
28 JoeyTaffy93: I think it is wavy at the top of the CRJ, I could be wrong. If you look closely at the partial image you can see white appearing at the top shortly w
29 OA260: I have to disagree I thought it looked great in that shade of Green and still do . But horses for courses etc ...
30 N766UA: That blue and white number is pretty bland, but all I can think of when I see the original livery is the bombed out hulks of jetliners scattered about
