Starting this new thread (mainly because #3 has been archived) with a question: Is Jet about to cancel its BRU-JFK service?

For a couple of days, all flights after September 10 were unavailable. Most are now available again, but only at full fares. Airlineroute points out that it is the exact pattern that Jet followed leading up to the cancellation of its BOM-BAH service, with the end of the route announced a week after it switched to selling only full-fare tickets.

I don't think this is the prelude to moving its scissor hub because three months is pretty short to move its infrastructure elsewhere, but it may well be related to Brussels' opening of BRU-JFK. Perhaps the two carriers have concluded an agreement over the route.

Shouldnt they have 2 weekly flights then to Vatry if they have two flights a week from there? One each to PMI and HER.

Most likely they will operate both on the same day (Saturday?) in a LUX-XCR-PMI-XCR-HER-XCR-LUX rotation (or PMI and HER reversed).

Still on topic, its Benelux after all, but I have noticed the late Transavia flight AMS-BUD being operated often with a KLM 737. I know the reason for this, but found it interesting that its often this route. Is it because its flight late in the day and HV might have encountered delays in the network somewhere?

And is the KLM flight oprated by KLM cockpitcrew and HV cabincrew?

No HV leases 2 B737-800s from KL for a few months.. They can appear on the entire HV network

BTW HV will also lease aircraft from FlyDubai, GOL and Kuluta this Summer

Jet has officially cancelled BRU-JFK effective September 10. MAA-BRU will continue to operate as scheduled. Passengers bound for JFK will be re-booked on to EWR or on SN's flight.
http://www.jetairways.com/EN/GL/PressReleases/BrusselsNewYorkPR.aspx

According to sources, Jet plans to eventually code-share with SN to JFK, but there's no firm date yet.

AMS

IB Express will take over the remaining 1 daily AMS-MAD flight from mainline IB (as of September 17th). After this date all IB flights will be IB Express.

RTM

BA has requested slots for a 3 daily RTM-LHR-RTM flight with A319 for W12 (this would mean a very large capacity increase for LON-RTM).
FR has also requested slots for W12 (currently for a 5 daily pair). However it remains unclear if these FR flights will materialise as in the past FR and RTM never could agree on the fees.

No, apparently they filed Dublin, but 5 daily RTM-DUB during W12 would be very strange and unrealistic....

Anyway, seeing is believing. I've my doubts about RTM as they don't have much capacity left (for S12 they've only 2,268 slots left, which means just over 5 dailies). Moreover next to the slot issue, there is the limit on the max number of pax per hour (currently at 650 pax at the same time for RTM) due to terminal space limitations (or better allowed space limitations).

Moreover, the schedule currently in the slot allocation list is worthless for the average business traveller and looks like these flights are slot keeping flights (not that many would have thought this in the first place):

BA 410 arr RTM 10:20
BA 411 dep RTM 13:00
BA 412 arr RTM 14:50
BA 413 dep RTM 17:20
BA 414 arr RTM 18:50
BA 415 dep RTM 20:50

How many connections are possible at LHR with this schedule? Looks like you're missing the entire morning bank.

Interesting to see that there is more and more capacity on the LUX-LON route, with CityJet now using ARJ85s instead of the F50 and BA introducing the new service.
From November there will be 10 flights a day then to London...quite impressive!!

Some SQC news regarding BeNeLux. AMS will see 9 weekly flights whilst BRU 7 weekly flights between July and August . It seems that SQC is reducing AMS in favour for BRU as the number of flights to BRU have increased whilst those to AMS have decreased (AMS used to be at least twice daily).

BTW for those having access to the SACN slot list should look at the drop down box where SACN mentions that SQ stands for Brussels Airlines...is this inside information of something we don't know anything about?  Wink

Flight UA973 returned back to BRU this morning after it suffered an impact with an unidentified object.

After the plane left with 70 minutes delay for it's flight to ORD it suffered a strike with a foreign object, shortly after take off the engine at portside made a rattling sound which stopped 10 minutes later. The crew made an announcement that there was an issue with the engine and that they idled the engine and would return back to BRU. Since the plane was over it's maximum landing weight it dumped fuel over the North Sea in the Knokke neighbourhood, after the fuel dump the plane landed safely at BRU. An engine investigation revealed that the fan blades showed impact by a hard object. A bird or rabbit is suspected to have caused the damage.

Reminds me of an issue some years ago. I think it was a Jetair 767 which had a strike with a rabbit in the Dominican Republic (or was it Cuba?). When the company explained a rabbit ended up in one engine, a passenger (who found himself rather smart and amusing) explained to the media that this was totally nonsense, because

Brussels Airlines announced the figures for the first month of their new JFK operation. SN transported 13.113 passengers during the first month of operation (the route started on 01JUN2012) which gives an average of 78,3% on this new route.

Spread over it's entire network SN transported during the month June 540.409 passengers which is an increase of 2,7% compared to the same month last year. The entire loadfactor increased with 0,5% to 69,8%.

The best news came from their African operations which saw an increase of 16%, which can be explained due the added capacity and the new route from JFK. These figures however shows that the number of passengers in Europe didn't increase (even decreased) due cutting of routes and frequencies in their money-losing European network.

SN transported 2.762.922 passengers during the first 6 months of this year which is an increase of 3,1% compared to 2011. An average loadfactor wasn't announced however SN did tell that the average load did increase with 3,3% compared to 2011.

Also TG asked for 1 additional slotpair to add an additional flight which would take place on Sunday. Currently TG flies 3x a week between BKK and BRU. Recently it was announced that SN would codeshare with TG on the flights.
