Hello All,
I did a search but couldn't find anything recent that's coherent, but what is the difference and the routes between the two versions of the A319s flown by DL (PMNW airplanes) -- Why are there so few seats on that one model of the 319?
in fleet (total) F J Y+ Y TOTAL:
Airbus A319 57 12 26 0 0 54
12 0 0 114 126
How many of the First version are there in DL's fleet?

Quoting 817Dreamliiner (Reply 1): If I remember correctly the ones with the fewer seats are used for charter flights for sports teams and the others are for regular passenger services.
Does anybody know what the reg for that one is? are there any photos of the cabin?

This past winter there was 8 A319 that were fitted with 54F seats. These airplanes are used for the NBA charter contract primarily. Plus the few NHL teams that use DL for charters. During the summer 6 of these planes are returned to the normal A319 configuration of 12F/114Y. With one or two remaining in the 54F conversion for MLB and other charters. I know that one of the A319 was used for Team USA basketball for the trip to Greece for a tournament a few years ago.

From what I remember, it isn't one aircraft, it's a few. I think it comes from PMNW's relationship with Champion Air, but NW and now DL took over when Champion went under three or four years ago. A search on the database comes up with N354NB as one of the VIP configs. Not sure about the others but I'm sure some people who have a clue about DL (aka not me) can add to it better than I can.

pmNW did a lot of team charters, with special seating configurations. For example, the last B727-200s to leave the NW fleet were the team charter planes, kept on after regular 727 service ended. As I recall, they were ex-Eastern ships with N...EA registrations.
So it looks like the business is good enough (or contracts long enough) for DL to maintain the small custom fleet. I did see the DL 319 charter flights appear in Flight Aware several times on odd routings in and out of Sacramento/SMF at the end of the season; obviously the NBA team charters.
Worked for WestAir, Apollo Airways, Desert Pacific, Western, AirCal and American Airlines
