Quoting softrally (Reply 1): With the refurbished interior, the 24 year old 744 looks brand new!
The only things that really show their age are the bins and PSUs. I really wish DL would have done some kind of update to the bins (not necessarily a Signature Interior mod, but any form of modernization), updated the PSUs, and perhaps replaced the tiny worded lavatory signs with larger symbolic ones.

Quoting LY777 (Reply 3): Excuse me, what is the PSU?
The passenger service units (PSUs) are the overhead units containing the reading lights, air vents, and FA call light. On narrowbody aircraft and some Airbus widebodies (particularly many A300s and A310s), they also have the buttons to control the reading lights and have an FA call button directly on them, while on most widebodies (including the 747) the buttons to control the reading lights and the FA call buttons are either in the armrest, IFE handset, or controlled through the touchscreen interface of the IFE (as is the case in this DL 744 example in Y).

First of all, good on Delta for putting these videos out. This is the kind of stuff industry leaders do to promote their product.
That said, I think there are some deficiencies to the product. The seats and Biz Elite suites look rather plasticky and less than posh. Very bare bones. Also, it seems like the headphone jacks and USB ports in the AVOD unit is a recipe for problems - it may be better in terms of saving on maintenance, but I know I wouldn't want to be the guy in the middle seat on a 10+ hour flight having to have my seatmate disconnect every time I want to get up to stretch my legs or visit the restroom.
Still, they've done a good job updating an old classic.

I wonder if DL installed its signature row marker? My flights on DL aircraft without pivot bins and its signature row markets are intolerable.

Actually, there has been a slight revision to the design, reducing the 3-D look. All EC row markers are of this new style (in red instead of blue), and all other seats on the PMNW fleet have also been updated (coinciding with EC installations). Much better than than having to look under the bins for the row numbers/letters on the A319s/A320s.

is it just me or everytime the guy put his head back on the seat when sitting in BusinessElite did it not look extraordinarily uncomfortable / almost painful?

agreed. I am very glad Delta has made this update, so much better then what was offered on the 747 (and power to them to updating all international products) but how could they seriously leave it looking that plastic and fake.

I don't like it. The materials used, and especially the seat covers look very cheap, plasticy and uncomfortable. The pictures look much better than the video though.
Maybe this is a cultural difference. In Europe and Asia, you wouldn't see an all-smiley faced, overly-enthusiastic guy talking about productivity, but probably a girl/woman who talks about enhanced comfort and a cozier environment.
But as I'm going to see these birds from the outside only, I am very happy Delta made this commitment to these aircraft.

Have you seen the 767-300er update? It has a similar feel to the 747-400 update. At least Delta is making it consistent.

The 763ER look even better than the 744s IMO, thanks to the new bins

Now if they would just work on the things that make it fly. Back on May18 LAX to NRT cancelled due to mechanical after sitting the beast on the ground for 3 hours. Next day, different 744, delayed 3 hours due to mechanical finally leaving though missed connection in NRT/HKG and had to stay in dump hotel at NRT.

I believe he had to do such an angle due to the camera.

The seat covers are leather.

This video was primarily for the Sales team and not for selling to the general public.
