BA Increasing Its Frequencies To Norway

According to the Norwegian newspaper Aftenposten (19.06.12), British Airways are going to increase its frequencies to Norway. OSL will probably from the winter schedule go from 4 to 5 daily flights to LHR. But the good news is that BA are using some of the former BMI slots to increase the frequencies to SVG and BGO from 1 to 2 daily flights from LHR. I knew that BA were going to keep SVG and BGO routes since there are a lot of business travellers, especially oil people travelling to these two places and these two cities in the western part of Norway can attract a lot of tourists. Expect BA to have a night stop to these two places. And expect them to steel a lot of passengers from KL, LH and SK.


So now we know where BA are using some of the available BMI slots.

Nice to hear that they put capacity on Scandinavia! But BA must be doing better than BMI at BGO and SVG, because IIRC BMI sometimes put the ERJ there instead of the A319?

Great that BA are back in SVG especially after abandoning their operations there years ago.

IIRC BA were profitable from LHR/LGW but due to logistical reasons (one of which being Braathens' partnership with KLM) they closed the route.

Happy to see more of BA in Norway. However they always seem to be the more expensive option, compared to KLM or Lufthansa ...

Well the ex BMI aircraft are all to be repainted and reconfigured so that they will become standard BA aircraft eventually.

Will be interesting to see how BA deal with the split between three terminals. I think T5 is already at capacity and T3 is full to the brim as well.

Didn't know that.
So far they are being repainted, and brought onto the BA AOC, but the A319 are 144 seaters, with BMI galleys and toilets fitted. They will be operated as a separate fleet in BA. I didn't know there were plans to refit them with BA galleys and the extra toilet and BA seats.

That's good news that they are going to use A321 to SVG. Hope it fill wfill up the aircraft with passangers. KL usually fills up their B738 from SVG to AMS and SK usually fill up their A321 with passangers from that city to CPH. It will be exciting to see how well BA will do on this route.
