Russia's Transaero Airlines (TRNS.RS) has firmed up its order for 4 A380s from
Airbus, the France-based commercial aircraft builder, unit of European
Aeronautic Defence & Space Co. EADS N.V. (EADSY), said Thursday.
Nice, but surprising and not Airbus like to announce this before a big Airshow...

I bet Boeing will be announcing the firming up of the Transaero 748 order there.
That is really good news about the A380!!!! Does anyone know about the aprox delivery date? maybe 2014/5 ??
I can only guess that Boeing will announce the 748 (4 on order) at the Farnborough Air Show and maybe some others that have been discussed in previous threads!!!
TR will follow; ZRH-DME SVO-HKT, HKT-SIN, SIN-KUL, KUL-HKT, HKT-SVO & DME-ZRH on LX, UN and AirAsia

Last summer i was at Paphos, Transaero had 5 flts daily, with diff metals but all Boeing B737, B767, B777 and B747. They had a twice daily B747 from Moscow.
I can see them deploying 2 on the Florida run throughout the year with 2 doing the southern EU in summer and SE-Asia in winter.
Won't be surprised if this order is followed with a sizeable A320 order.

I don't know how much the load is on the MIA Route as they use the 777 or 744 that would allow the A380 to be filled up on this route! But I'm sure that BKK will be the first in Asia. My GF has a Tourist Office in Russia and the bookings for Thailand are very high!! (so that is my only source to my guess)

Wow is that the current most for an A380? I would assume mainly an all economy aircraft like Transaero operates correct? I can’t wait to see that 700 passenger plane! Congrats to Airbus and Transero!

Absolutely. We want to see what this giant bird is fully capable of.
I wouldn't be surprised if they offered some type of enhanced economy class with extra legroom. There's enough room and enough potential income on that plane to try out some new ideas.
and with that..cabin crew, seats for landing please.

Quoting anfromme (Reply 8): TK stated that they are going to decide between the 747-8i and the A380 before the end of July.
Talk is of at least 15 of whichever type they choose.
That will probably be *the* VLA order of the year. I doubt TK has yet decided.
Quoting A388 (Reply 10): I have been waiting for TK's announcement for a long time so I'm looking forward to their decision.
It is like their new routes. One must be patient to see when/if it will happen.
Quoting queb (Reply 11): Transaero will announce the engine selection soon.

Guess SZG will be a winter destination for the 380 if they can handle the size of aircraft!

Quoting col (Reply 1): Boeing will probably steal the show with 737max orders, so more value in announcing customer now.
All what matters is how orders go on long term, not just at air shows. Plus, Airbus might have more to announce than these 'appetizer' 4 A380s. They might keep the entree and dessert for the air show itself. After all, they "only" have the A350 and A320NEO as potential super-seller. And the A380 itself to not be neglected either.

This will be the most boring A380 in the skies. lol
I don't agree - I think AF has that title locked up forever.
Fair enough. A matter of taste, as I really like AF livery, boring yes to some extent, but also classy and classic. Unlike Transaero's, which looks odd and stolen to someone else.

Well...having in mind that Transaero already flies 747s, A380 order is not a surprise. What does seem like a surprise is why are they the only Russian passenger carrier that can fill up Jumbo, while others can't?
