From ED to PA I wonder why

https://www.airblue.com/Res/step1-flights-list.asp

The airline is also leasing two A343 from Turkish Arlines due in September in all Y configuration, as well as some Dash 8-Q400 supposedly coming from France, with the latter they will launch domestic socio-economic routes mainly to the the Northern most parts of the country Chitral, Gilgit and Skardu, flights there are weather restricted, PIA only serve those places currently daily but cancellations are frequent.

Where are the A343 supposed to fly to? Could it be that they're looking at more Europe flights, and the ED designator conflicts with Edelweiss, forcing a change? They took PA presumably since it's the first two letters in 'Pakistan'.

Set for the MAN route.

Thanks for that info. Wikipedia does indicate that ED was used by both Edelweiss and AirBlue, as a controlled duplicate similar to IT (Kingfisher and Irtysh Avia). I can't think of any other reason to change than a conflict. Anyone else got any ideas?

Edelweiss Air has WK as IATA-Code.

I'm very surprised about the news of the A340 and Q400. ED (sorry PA) has ordered 14 A320s back in 2006/2007 but only get one single aircraft of this order (AP-EDA)...

Apologies. I went by what a.net was indicating in the mouseover text, combined with the (questionable)fact that the ED code was indicated as a controlled duplicate on the wikipedia list.

An AirBlue A340 at MAN... That will be chaos.

They are planning new destinations could be Copenhagen and Oslo, perhaps Frankfurt too, in the East they want to start Bangkok, Kuala Lumpur and Singapore.
