WHAT IS THIS REPORT?
This compares what is for sale THIS WEEK for the stated period versus what was for sale LAST WEEK...It does NOT compare to last year or now (UNLESS OTHERWISE STATED).

HOW DO I READ IT?
XXX-YYY DEC 4>5 JAN 4>5 ; means that the listed airline changed the frequency between the two airports to add from 4 to 5 roundtrips in December and January. No other months were changed. I only list one direction, although it is possible the listed change is only one way. It is too difficult to average the two directions. I assume the change is roundtrip and that is most often the case.

HOW ARE THE DAILY DEPARTURES CALCULATED?
This report uses total operations for the month listed, divided over the days in the month.

WHAT ARE THE FRACTIONAL FLIGHTS?
Non-daily operations create fractional weekly service. In most cases flights are rounded, but in the case of international service or markets with low frequency, fractions are shown. If a flight operated 5 days out of 7, it would show 0.8 flights.

WHY ARE THERE WEIRD FREQUENCIES IN FAR AWAY MONTHS FOR LCCs?
Most airlines publish schedules 11 months in advance. This report covers the next 9 months. That avoids seeing schedules as they are loaded. Several LCCs load their schedules less than 9 months into the future. Their schedules may also end mid-month. If B6 loads their schedule until Jan15, all flights in Janaury will show half frequency because of the way the report is created.

WHY IS A WHOLE AIRLINE'S SCHEDULE SHOWN AS CHANGING FOR A FUTURE MONTH?
Similarly to the previous question, some airlines load their schedule from nothing inside the 9 month window of this report. When their schedule is extended it will show as new service because there was no previous schedule to compare to. In some instances I will show a more valid comparison against another period.

THOSE FLIGHTS AREN'T DELTA, THEY ARE PINNACLE
This report only shows the marketing code. It is too complicated to show all the operators.

THE FREQUENCIES MAY HAVE CHANGED AS YOU SHOW, BUT THE SEATS DIDNT CHANGE BECAUSE OF EQUIPMENT SWAPS
That is a natural weakness of a frequency based report, but it provides something to discuss below.

THE FREQUENCY DOESN'T SHOW A CHANGE, E.G. 4>4
This happens as a result of rounding. There is a change in service that is large enough to be listed, but through rounding it does not appear.

I marked some of the ones I thought were interesting with an "*".

It's an adequate schedule during a slow leisure travel month. Travel to LAS tends to gravitate towards Thursday, Friday and Sunday. Persons departing on Thursday & Friday are generally looking forward to spending the weekend in Las Vegas while persons traveling on Sunday are more value-oriented and looking to take advantage of cheap weekday deals. Other travel days are significantly less popular and generally stimulated by lower fares.

The route returns daily in October.

Looks like some outfit called Charter Air Transport (callsign "Stingray") operating E120's on the route.

Search found that Charter Air Transport's parent company is Business Aircraft Group- looks like they operate 4-5 E120's.

MCOLAS has more seats than CVGLAS, but CVG certainly has more DL loyalty and far more connectivity. It's not so much the seasonal pulldown but rather the white flat it represents.

I've wondered this too - MEM as a hub is obviously not in the cards, and it seems that the recent high oil prices would have offered a great opportunity to just be done with it. I assume it's for PR or image or community relations in MEM, but de-hubbing is never going to be a welcome decision so not sure that the gentleness of it is really helping overall. And honestly, I would think in the scheme of things MEM, no matter how upset the city might be at losing hub status, doesn't have that much power to make DL's life all that miserable.

(Or could the baby-steps draw down of MEM have to do with the pace of 50-seaters being taken out of service or whatever they're doing? Is it a situation where, if they have these planes they might as well fly them somewhere? Like globalflyer, I am seriously just curious.)

Your data format is not very telling of what DL is doing in this case. DL is shutting MEM down.... on Saturdays. It is down to less than 25 departures on Saturday starting September.

OK, P1 (publiccharters.com) is not an airline. They are like Branson AirExpress which also had a two letter code. P1 has no planes and code shares with operators of airplanes. It's an interesting business. I'm surprised it is legal to have a code and no airline.

SATA does fly the Azores routes with A-310s. TACV has 1 757-200 that flies to Praia in the Cape Verde Islands which is off the African coast. Rumored that the 757 is being retired replaced with 737-800. Not sure if that can fly this route or not.

Also P1 BED-TTN is the public charter Streamline operated by Charter Air Transport. Guess it didn't make it.

Hate this for Memphis but then again, Memphians have done nothing but complain for years. If Memphis turned a profit, Delta would stay around. How can you blame any company from doing this? There are so many factors involved. Memphis should celebrate FedEx, though not a passenger airline, it puts Memphis on the map. The economy will turn around and other airlines and flights will be added. It's the economy, fuel prices, and let's face it, Memphis is not a wealthy city. Memphis has a rich history of being a hub airline for Southern, Republic, Northwest and Delta spanning 3 decades. She is only following other cities and Memphis is fortunate to have outlasted other cities. Who ever would have thought Memphis would have more flights from a legacy airiine than Cincinnati, St Louis, Pittsburgh, etc.? Things will turn around and "take off" once again. This is an economy correcting itself and Memphians need to realize that this isn't just Memphis. But God bless people who have lost jobs in dehubbing, flight reductions and mergers.

At this rate I think CLE will survive MEM out as a hub for an airline. That's because CLE has industry and manages good O&D for United.

I think that it's better off during the late winter/early spring, then returning in September-november.

This flight is Saturday only (PHX is outside the perimeter) so it does not use a slot; they don't apply on Saturdays.

which airline is this?

Volaris. With the demise of Mexicana they are now the second largest Mexican airline.

Is this normal?

The flight only started in March, so it's hard to say. US usually cuts their Saturday flying in PHX in September/October by canceling the last couple banks and down-gauging flights earlier in the day. Seeing how this flight is Saturday-only, it could be just a part of that seasonal cutback, although I think that might be too optimistic.

Tiny, unreadable text leaves ample room for interpretation.

I think that these domestic, out-of-perimeter Saturday LGA flights just don't last. I think that there's a whole list of cities here, with PHX being the latest, that haven't been able to sustain these flights. I believe that LAX, SFO, SLC, and now PHX are all among these, and...... nada.....

However, the seasonal ski areas like EGE and HDN have been able to do this, but not those from the bigger destinations

WOW that is just so weak. With southwest starting Dayton to Denver anyone see Delta reducing that or running for the hills? CVG-DEN looks pretty hit or miss route some days are packed espcially this summer.

The Shale Oil and Gas boom in Eastern Ohio can only help CLE, especially when their hub carrier's largest hub is the energy capital of the world (Houston).
