How Many FL 73Gs Converted To WN?

How many FL 73Gs have been converted to WN ? Are they flying any specific routes or any WN route ? Any difference in configuration ?

Hard to say... basic answer is no, it's a -700 and will fly any route to any city needed. It can be swapped out with any plane, except for an -800. However, it does hold 143 and may get special treatment to be placed on certain routes such as LAX-MDW, LAS-BWI, etc, where WN can fill every seat no matter how many seats they put on a plane.

Nope, it'll be 143 seats on board with the new Evolve interior. A WN 737 with the new interior will look the same as a converted FL 737.

They are now WN planes flown by WN pilots on WN routes. The converted plane's life with FL is over once it goes into the hangar.

My question as well. Is there anything contractually that prevents WN from possibly moving every FL aircraft over and then just furloughing FL pilots? Moving planes over before you have the lists integrated seems like a bad deal for FL pilots.

They use a formula for each plane it takes x amount of crew fa and captain to operate that plane. There is 1-2 classes in Dallas training now who are former FL. As they take over more planes more will go over. F/a's is 375 for this year (though rumor has it maybe more possibly) and more pilots are going over as the MKE pilot base closes they will head over which is causing a bit of hub bub with pilots in other bases.

List is "integrated" they just haven't all moved over yet as FL has to continue operating for the near future. Also if any Airtran Pilot or flight attendant is furloughed then they cannot hire anyone new from the street into those respective positions till all the FL people are back so it would hamper the expected growth not to mention go against everything they have said since this deal has been announced

DL and NW were very similar airlines with very similar products, WN and FL not so much. The integration of the two companies is moving right along. Just about all of the work groups have single senority lists and a good chunk of HQ employees are WN employees now.

Because FL and WN will each be run separately until all planes are converted. A big reason for it slowing down is that the WN and FL reservation systems cannot talk to one another. This will be corrected with the help of Amadeus. Also WN needs the current FL res system to continue to make and operate international reservations and flights.

While there are many issues, it seems to be computer reservations systems are the main problem.

Neither system allows code sharing/interlining. So you can't book a FL flight and have it show up in WNs system (or vice versa) - like CO/UA operated until March of this year.

WNs system is old and antiquated and publicly admitted to being a hindrance in a lack of international flying and even international code shares.

FLs system is much more modern, but from what I hear here a down level (older, less features) version of a modern res system. Several people has asked why can't FL just upgrade to the newer version - but I have not seen a good reason.

My guess is they would have to upgrade FL to the later system, then migrate all of WN to FLs system, then move the data center from ATL to DAL - I think the folks in DAL want to upgrade their system, then migrate all of FL on to WNs system.

It has been publicly announced that code sharing won't happen until 2013 - and until then FL and WN need to be stand alone airlines.

That's the most unacceptable part. I know IT systems can't be integrated overnight, but the fact that it's taking years and that it seems no one in charge of the deal realized what a big deal that was is truly mind-boggling. I really can't believe more heads haven't rolled because no one seemed to ask enough questions on that front when the deal was being hammered out.

That's the most amazing part of all this. It will be around 3 years since the buyout was announced before there's even code sharing between the 2 (or is it 1?) airlines....we're probably looking at sometime into 2015 before the former Airtran ceasese to exist for all intents and purposes. For an airline that seemed to be so efficient and well-run before this buyout, i can't help but think Southwest didn't do enough due dilligence ahead of time regarding this apparent boondogle.

Some registrations numbers were duplicated. Such as N949AT & N949WN. Internally we track our planes by the tail number and the tail number up until recently matched the registration. But that system is now changing due to the acquisition along the amount of aircraft coming online.
