Hello all,

Just readed that Swiss will order in 2016 the A350 or B777, those planes will exchange the A340 planes.
In 2018 they want exchange the A320 and buy the new A320neo.

I think this are good conditions for swiss.

Interesting, but if they want to replace the A340 in 2016 as stated in the article that only leaves room for the 777 or would they get the A350 that soon ? Also interesting is that the 737Max is under evaluation but I guess the NEO will be the way to go here.

It will forever be a McDonnell Douglas MD 80 , Boeing MD 80 sounds so wrong

I think rather they will buy the Airbus A350, all-Airbus-Fleet you know?

Support Airliners.net - become a First Class Member!

The A350 would be the more logical choice since they can cross-train their A340 crews on it.

As to where they can get planes, if Kingfisher folds that would free up their five frames (slated for 2015) and they might be able to lease from ALAFCO or ILFC, who are slated to have planes before 2016.

I think so as well but the date 2016 makes me wonder.........there are rumors that Swiss wants to get larger aircraft soon

As to where they can get planes, one can reasonably expect IT will fold, so that would free up their five frames (slated for 2015). Depending on how quickly they want them, they might be able to lease from ALAFCO or ILFC.

IT's A350 are of the -800 version, which has since been pushed back to a 2016 EIS. At this point with the A358 delay and the mess IT is in who really knows what year IT actually has any firm slots for.
