Checking flight aware lately and realized that at some point a switch was made from the CRJ 700s on the route before . When and why the switch? With WN, US, and DL and UA flying the route as well albeit via regional affiliates.

Been E135s atleast since March. I also believe they dropped a frequency.
From the desert to the sea, to all of Southern California

I read on the forum (I believe it was from Mark) that this switch was due to Eagle's retirement of the smaller ERJs. Essentially the retirement of the smaller ERJs resulted in a shift of regional aircraft around the system. PHX unfortunately saw a down gauge from CRJ to ERJ. Most likely the CRJs were redeployed to routes with a higher yield since the CRJ has an F cabin.

While seat capacity dropped due to the down gauge from CRJ to ERJ, the frequency has remained unchanged at 4X daily.

The previous schedule had it reduced to 3x and 2x on some days of the week. Currently it's 4x daily with 3x on SAT (the 7am LAX-PHX, 910 PHX-LAX doesn't run)
The change occured in February I believe. Before that these were the only consistently available flights out of PHX, however now they can be harder to standy-by on, especially in the spring.

Interesting. I never noticed or heard about the reduction. It seemed like every time I checked aa.com, there were 4 daily flights (with the exception of the SAT schedule).
