Contact Air Taken Over By OLT

Finally ...

Today OLT Express (Bremen) has taken over Contact Air (Stuttgart).
So, OLT will take over all eight Fokker 100 and also fulfil Contact Air´s contract with Swiss (two out of the eight F100 are operated for Swiss)

Interesting development, looks like the new Polish investors are pumping money into the company. Integration should be smooth as OLT already operates F100s. Weren't they going to take over bankrupt Cirrus Airlines as well?

What surprises me though is the complete lack of operational cooperation (not even code-shares) between OLT Germany & OLT Poland, despite sharing the same name and holding company. Effectively they seem two completely segregated companies.

That would be a technology challenge as well as OLT Express Poland has chosen to operate like a LCC using Airkiosk as a passenger services system while OLT Express Germany essentially still acts like a traditional regional carrier also using a legacy PSS from Lufthansa System/Amadeus. While a free flow codeshare from OL to O2 would be easier, doing the same the other way around would require Airkiosk to be able to fully support marketing codeshares, bilateral IATA interline e-ticketing etc. They should be able to implement either some sort of a blocked space codeshare agreement or at least integrate their websites to refer to each other especially given the large amount of routes to Germany planned by O2.

PS: I am still amazed how the media in Germany does not seem to question where the financing for this all comes from.

Not only that - I would actually question what OLT wants to do with another six Fokker F100 currently with no contract behind it plus at least one Saab S2000 with no route assigned.

Even if they use Fokker 100s for all of these routes, that still leaves at least three more Fokker 100 and the Saab 2000 that would have to be kept busy somewhere (that is if the Swiss wet-lease contract for two aircraft continues which I assume it does).

Contact Air has been operating two Fokker 100s for Swiss for several years now, in July and August one of the two operates for Austrian and then will be back with Swiss thereafter.
