I live near JFK and used to see G-VROC fly in on flight VIR45/46 frequently, being rotated with G-VBIG and G-VHOT. I was looking on flightaware and noticed that G-VROC has been operating LGW-BGI and other caribbean destinations, and thought, "Oh, alright. It's been operating some Caribbean flights recently", but then realized it was Bridgetown to GATWICK! Was this aircraft converted to the Gatwick/Manchester configuration? If so, why? Is it because of G-VRAY and other a330s coming online?

BGI is frequently operated by a LHR config. Last year VFAB was based at LGW for many months. I believe VROC is operating the inaugural VS flight to CUN as we speak.

Hi VIR744, How long will ROS & GAL be gone for?
VS have been sending the LHR config 747's into LGW for years now, primarily in the winter so routes like BGI and occasionally UVF & ANU have the extra J and W capacity (and the better IFE system) so it's an win-win with customers and revenue.

Viewing my Airnav Radarbox Hong Kong network yesterday morning, i saw Virgin Atlantic B747-400 G-VAST arriving into Hong Kong as VIR812P. This might also explain why B747-400 G-VROC is operating out of LGW .

G-VAST's refit is complete. It was leaving HKG and is back in service today. G-VLIP is due in HKG tomorrow and is the third B744 in for the refit.

G-VROS is back from FRA, G-VGAL is out there at the moment. I'm not sure how soon it is due back but won't be too far off now as it is just a C check, although these are getting longer nowadays.

I wasn't aware that they did their checks in FRA. Must be cool to be spotting at FRA and see a VS 744 coming in amongst all the LH aircraft!
