AIRLINERS.NET CREW
FORUM MODERATOR

With the Farnborough International Airshow 2012 now upon us and the expected announcement of order from Airbus, Boeing, as well as manufacturers like Bombardier, Embraer, ATR, and Sukhoi, we are going to have dedicated threads for Airbus orders, Boeing orders, and one for other manufacturers.

The purpose of these threads is to keep a daily tabulation on any announcements made and to keep seperate each companies announcements. Though we understand there will be split orders, having the official threads should make it a lot easier to track orders for each OEM and make for a good reference for the future of the site.

We do realise that there will / may be major orders announced given recent speculation and some media reports. Therefore, if an order is announced and listed here, by a New A380 / 747-8 Operator, a Major A350 / B787 commitment or by a carrier of regional or strategic importance, it should be entitled to it's own seperate thread. We ask that order be posted here with a link to the relevent thread and a link back to this thread, that way a free and open discussion can be had on these orders without overwhelming the official threads.

This is the dedicated thread for the discussion of Airbus orders. The dedicated threads for Boeing and other manufacturers can be found here:

Farnborough 2012 Boeing Orders Thread

Farnborough 2012 Other Manufacturers Thread

Any enquiries please direct to moderators@airliners.net on behalf of the Moderating Crew we thank you for your assistance. It's a good week for aviation, let's make it a good week for the Forum.

"Another"? In recent times they've ordered quite a variety, range and number of models. In any case, I'd hardly characterise 26 new A350-1000 orders as "disappointing" (even if some come at the price of conversions from the A350-900.

Bigger ain't necessarily better. Anyway, its still early days. No major Asian player seems likely to go forever without either or both of the two big quads. Be patient.

This is excellent news for the A350-1000, I was kind of expecting it, since I wasn't really sure how CX was planning to use 38 A359's...Converting at least some made sense.

I'm pretty sure this order for A35J's will be for the majority to replace CX's remaining 744s. No VLA's for CX for the foreseeable future I would tend to think. Just 748F's.

The 777-300ERs on order will be able to do that, so I am thinking 777-300 replacement (that is 12 frames) and expansion.

Don't forget the 772s and the 343s. Thats another 16 planes + the 12 773s = 28.

I would have thought the A350-900 would have been tasked to those replacements, but CX does have 17 new A330-300s coming, so adding the 22 remaining A350-900s would cover replacement of the current 35-frame A330-300 fleet.

A reminder, this thread is for the discussion of announced orders and that's it. No comparing the number of orders of a Boeing a/c with that of a competing Airbus product, nothing in regards to rumored ordered. If users want to do that, do it in a separate thread. The Moderators have had to gut this thread a few times already because some of the participants are choosing to ignore the requests made of them by the Moderators.
