Maybe someone from Finland or someone familiar with the AY fleet can sched some light into the following:
Yesterday in the evening OH-LXG and OH-LXG (both A320-214) arrived as FIN8935 and FIN8937 from HEL at VIE.
Both are in all white colours and are now parked in front of the OS technical base.

It is said that these are going to join the OS fleet (as substitute for the 2 sold B737-700 OE-LNN/LNO) but OS has not confirmed are commented a possible purchase of the 320ies from AY.

All what is published so far is in the reg section of Skyliner Aviation "ferried after storage 10jul12 HEL-VIE, all wh on delivery to Austrian Airlines (+1735 OH-LXG)".

Anyone has more information?

Both LXE and LXG were leased, perhaps OS made new deal with owner.

I had the impression that these 2 A320 where owned by AY - at least airfleets.net does not show "leased from..." with these 2 aircraft but with all the other A320ies in the AY fleet.

btw - here is a photo of OH-LXE and OH-LXG at the ramp in front of the OS hangars at VIE airport

Must not have been hard to paint them all white from the Finnair livery!

o.k., both are now re-registered
OH-LXG is now OE-LBX
OH-LXE is now OE-LBW

and OS just needs to add a little blue colour for the belly and the engines...

rumours indicate a 3rd A320 will join the 2 ex-AY A320s within the next weeks, wonder where this one will come from.

Where does OS plan on using these birds? Have they announced any new routes/additional frequencies?

These are 73X replacements. OS is standardizing on A32X to cut costs.

Do you, or anyone else, know where they used to send their Boeings to? I know they used to operate into London and occasionally into Belgrade.

All over the place. I think they were pretty interchangable with the A320s, just like LH does.

Thanks. Since this was announced in January, have they withdrawn any planes so far or will they do as the A320s arrive? I am curious if the B737-600 is still in the fleet? That machine is like a bullet, I remember we flew from Belgrade to Vienna in just 50 minutes!

737-600s and 737-700s are all gone, not that there were many.

At a time many similar sized 737-200s and -500s are still flying.. Strange world of aviation...

Didn't they also scrap the MA 736s?

Do you know when the B737-600 left the fleet? I saw that it operated to Belgrade not too long ago.

In March/April this year.

Dont know, but there were a few more 736s that have been axed as young planes. They are a bit what the A318 is for Airbus - few clients, early retirements, very early scrappings.

OE-LNL flew into St Athan (EGDX) (Nr. Cardiff) for scrapping on 15th May. OE-LNM had arrived at St Athan before then (on 5th April).

Wonder when the 738s are going to leave, other than their smaller sisters certainly to serve on somewhere else.

The 738 are bound to stay for the summer (holiday) season at least. OE-LNT even received her "15 yrs Star Alliance" logo, so it's not to leave the fleet all too soon.

I just checked BEG's arrivals for tomorrow and I saw that OS 773/774 is to be operated by a B737-600. I guess it is a mistake or...?

indeed. Sometimes scrapping and selling parts brings more money. and the market for the B736 ist pretty small

OE-LNL/LNM B736 and OE-LNN/LNO B737 have left so far - the 736s to St Athan EGDX and the 737s to Kemble Airport EGBP

2 more A320ies should arrive this year (former AB / LT) and 1 early next year eventually from IG. OS confirmed so far 5 additional A320 in a press relase (german only) plus further 2 A320ies as substitute for the B737 fleet.

Actually it shows the flight being operated with a Fokker 70 now... pfff

Does anyone know when they plan on replacing the Fokkers? I guess the Fokker 70s are not that economical anymore.

I've heard all sorts of things. I rather like them as they don't feel as small as they actually are. Unlike a CRJ they need proper boarding stairs which I think helps.

It's probably too late for CRJs, so maybe ERJ75s and 90s? CSeries? More Q400s for the F70s?

I hope for Embraers, they would look beautiful in Austrian's livery. However I think it is more likely for them to get the CSeries.
