Airliner Geeks,

Heard from a QF internal source that QF's A388 VH-OQF is going to get a special livery paint job? Is this true? A fact that was confirmed was that QF will be holding a special A380 event on 8/17/2012 at the LAX Flight Museum. Maybe this will be the unveiling of the special paint job?

Anybody have any further insight on this topic???

Best,
POTUS

Perhaps another Aboriginal paint job? If it's in LAX, then we should catch it from where ever it flies from to get to LAX.

While I hope it is, does anyone else think it's odd that they would reveal a paint job, in honor of the Australian Aborigines people, in...Los Angeles??

More than likely the new advertising campaign QF have launched "You're the reason we Fly"... QF plans on unveiling a A380 & B737 with names written across the fuselage...

Highly disagree... A fully red or blue aboriginal scheme would look amazing. The retro scheme (especially QF's) just wouldn't go well with an A380 (though LH would be an exception IMO, or atleast the 1980's scheme).

Didn't QF specifically state that the Aboriginals scheme will not be applied on the A380? I thought they implied that the A330 will get the new scheme instead (probably one of the A330-300s when it get repainted into the new livery).

Australian Aborigines people,

The correct references are: Australian Aborigines, Aboriginal Australians, Australian Aboriginals or simply Aborigines.

I don't know... They've done red, they've done blue, I think they should do yellow next... Specifically if they could somehow get permission to use the cover Midnight Oil did for their "Earth and Sun and Moon" album, that would be awesome...

That would be the one.

There are pix of what the planes will look like in their advertising around currently, with names covering the planes.

Nothing overly exciting though.

Massively disappointing if true.

Oh, I hate those planes with thousands of small stickers...

I want a new Wunala Dreaming, something outstanding and classy, not crappy marketing aimed at dummies which others have done before.

Maybe the source got it wrong and a 744 has been stickered up with a boxing Kangaroo for the olympics.

Cute. Not a special livery, but a nice ambassador for the Aussie team. I only wonder why on a 744 when all that flies to London are A380s!

Wonder what an A380 would like in the OneWorld colours?

Because the 744 will be used to take the team to London.

Quoting Australian Business Traveller:

A Qantas spokeswoman confirmed to Australian Business Traveller that this Boeing 747 will be the official plane used to ferry Aussie athletes to and from London's Olympic and Paralympic games.

The 747 will always be the TRUE queen of the skies!

Indeed. Quite often the intent is good, but the execution, not so much. The KLM Delft Tile 777, for instance. Loved the idea, but the plane just looks like the paint went blotchy.

And then the KLM plane is the best execution. I remember a Canadian DC-10 or a TAM plane which looked like covered with shit.

Thanks, I forgot reading  Still a bit surprising. Seems its either VH-OJS, T or U.

This would explain why VH-OJU lost its oneworld titles.

Looks good, however I hope they replace those lost oneworld titles on an A380.

Cheers
