Bizarre Announcement From Ryanair In Figari

On Sunday 15/07 I was waiting at Figari Sud-Corse Airport (FSC) for my AF flight to Nice, when I heard an announcement from Ryanair or maybe the airport ops reading a Ryanair message, saying:

"To all passengers flying on Ryanair to Brussels, please note that the incoming aircraft is gonna attempt to land". Then, 5 minutes later, "Your plane has failed to land a second time, and therefore your flight is canceled. Please login to ryanair.com to rebook your flight. Please note that the next scheduled flight is on Tuesday".

WHAT is that?? There was some wind (around 60 km/h) but all kind of planes (AF Airbus A320 and Air Corsica ATR) landed and took off, and it was absolute blue sky.

Thanks in advance for any explanation!

Could it be that it had nothing to do with the weather outside but that the plane had a technical problem?

When flying Ryanair people are asked if they want insurance, what happened to those who didn't purchase it?

Check the flight here:

They flew over Figari at 9000 feet, not exactly a landing attempt if you ask me, then diverted to Ajaccio.

Probably crosswinds were over company limits, they didn't even bother trying...

I scratch my head, therefore I am.

You can get strong crosswind conditions in blue skies. Wind is invisible remember!
