On the LX website it says that pax who sit in F or J on the Airbus 330/340 must place their pet (in the appropriate contiainer) in the overhead lockers, the wardrobe or under some economy class seat fr take off and landing as the room "under the seat in front" does not provide the space needed...?
I don't understand this. There is enough room to convert the J-seat into a bed...and the F-seat offers TONS of room (like the open compartment under the ottoman). Why would someone agree to have their pet put in a overhead locker or wardrobe (which are closed and DARK) for landing and takeoff?
Does anyone know other airlines that follow the same procedure?

The seat most likely does not provide enough containment for the animal container and thus it cannot be there for takeoff and landing. For the same reason with some(/many?) carriers you cannot store anything under a seat if there is no person sitting on the seat behind it, as it is not contained. Pretty standard operating procedure.
