In short, WS will once again operate YYC/YEG-OGG and YYC-HNL during the winter season with 2 752's leased from Thomas Cook starting in mid December. Flights are as follows:

YYC-OGG 4x a week
YYC-HNL: 2x a week
YEG-OGG: 3x a week

Glad to see these flights back, I prefer their flight times versus Air Canada's mainly because the AC flights are always red eye's coming back from Hawaii. With WS they at least arrive back later in the evening the same day.

Give me the red eye back every time, gives me one more full day in Hawaii before I have to go home. Plus my daughter sleeps much better on the overnight, makes the trip home slightly easier.

Good to see that WS went with 2 aircraft this time, hopefully in the event of any mechanical issues it won't lead to people stranded trying to get home or off to their vacation (like the last couple of years).

I sometimes wonder why they are even bothering with HNL? It seems like here in Alberta OGG is really the island of choice for most.

With that schedule even with 2 aircraft there will be issues if there is a mechanical!

"YYC-OGG 4x a week
YYC-HNL: 2x a week
YEG-OGG: 3x a week"

On top of that AC has YYC-OGG 6x a week and to HNL 2x a week. That's a lot of seats between Alberta and the islands.

I agree that the redeye home is great, plus right now the AC schedule is showing XM'd B767s on the Alberta to Hawaii routes. Although that may change closer to winter!

It's hilarious how local media is making this sound like this is a new service ... when it's something WJA has done the past 2 winters ... glad to see WJA is bringing these flights back ...

Waikiki still draws passengers, not to mention the new Disney resort on Oahu that WS also offers packages for. But you are certainly right about OGG being the destination of choice!

WS are the masters of getting press for everything (especially in Western Canada). Plus with them being based in Calgary the media is always happy to run with it as it is good for the city too.

It is funny though, not like there will be a big article stating that AC is back with non-stop flights to Hawaii this winter either. However in all fairness the local media has always reported on any changes to the AC NRT route, and they did make mention of the LH departure.

Very good news. From France, even if Air Canada spoke French, they were horrible. Very very poor staff everywhere as I took Toronto to Hawaii with stop in Vancouver last year. Return on WestJet was simply too good. Very one was wonderful and I felt that they truly cared. I am not surprise that WestJet is always profitable and Air Canada always make loses. They are truly pathetic.

All airlines have good and bad flights. That's the nature of all service industries that rely on human beings to provide the service. In my experience AC is one of the best carriers on the routes it serves, and many seem to agree considering the number of service awards AC has received.

Are these flights crewed with WestJet FAs?
