The Airbus A320-200 with the msn 5165 is announced to be delivered to Air Asia. But when I look at the actual deliveries of the A320 family, I see that there were around msn 5230. The only exceptions are those A320s which were produced in China. The newest Tianjin-build A320s which was delivered is msn 5014.

So could it be, that Air Asia's A320 with the msn 5165 is build in Tianjin? If yes, that would be the first Chinese-build Airbus for a non-Chinese operator.

Can anyone confirm this?

I thought that when Airbus announced the Tianjin plant, that Airbus workers threatened to go on strike and it was decided that the new plant would only build planes destined for the Chinese domestic market?

Is this AirAsia ordered through a mainland Chinese leasing company?

It appears the airplane is going to be used on routes in China.

yes, the aircraft will be leased from ICBC Leasing (Industrial and Commercial Bank of China), together with a second A320, which will be produced in Europe.

ICBC also agreed lease with Asiana for 2x A321, which will of course also be assembled in Europe.

In any case, sooner or later I expect the Tianjin FAL to produce a/c for the Asian region and not just China, sure it will cause some (justified) union conflicts, but I think it's just a matter of time.
