This evening Air Malta will announce the new livery as part of a complete re-branding of the airline, in an event to which all staff and the media have been invited. KM is presently going thru a complete makeover following many years of losses. The previous management has been sacked and the workforce reduced by almost 50% in the past months, thru voluntary redundancy schemes and no lay offs. The implementation of more than 160 projects, announced by the new management team two years ago, is taking shape rapidly now and tonight's event will probably be the spring board to the new shape of Air Malta for many years to come. Earlier this year, KM unveiled it's first ever logo jet promoting Valletta, Malta's capital, as a contender for the European Capital of Culture 2018.

Each and every aircraft in the fleet is active today, so presumably this 'unveiling' isn't actually on one of the aircraft this evening, and rather a presentation instead?

Saw the logo jet at LHR a few weeks ago and photographed it . Quite liked it . Will be interesting to see what KM have come up with . Hopefully something good which will enhance rather than devalue it . Fingers crossed !

No there will not be an unveiling of a real plane. Just the new livery and corporate re-branding. I have no clue whatsoever what the planes will look like but persistent rumours indicate the new livery will be a colourful one.

I'm holding out hope that the new livery isn't radically different, the current KM scheme is one of my favorites. The Maltese Cross, combined with the red accents, blue stripes, and AIR MALTA in the serif font, is so refined and elegant.

I like the currently livery too. I'm curious to see how or as what Air Malta intends to reinvent itself. Personally, I'm slightly worried they may want to reposition themselves as a LCC, in which case, in my opinion, their doomed.

They could use more colour on the fuselage, Its a pretty nice clean livery but it is missing something.

Can't wait to see what they've come up with.
Air Malta's livery is looking a little dated and needs a refresh.

I drew these up several years ago as a flight of fancy

Nice variations. We will know how KM will look like in an hour's time. Hopefully there will be a model on display at tonight's event. I will surely be taking pictures......

Ok, just back from the staff presentation party. The new livery will be on the first aircraft by end September. It looks gorgeous, somewhere between the traditional and the more modern and appealing in today's world. Air Malta will be branded "The Airline of the Maltese Islands - MALTA". The cross is still there and some other very Maltese colours added to the scheme. I cannot post any pics as it is KM's wish that none are published until the official media presentation tomorrow.

Going to Malta in September, (to see Malta International Airshow and do some spotting).

I hope to get some picture of the new C/S.

Hopefully, they will remain distinct from FR and U2.

IMO, trying to copy these other carriers would be a big mistake.

I'm thinking that with current airline trends, they'll drop the 'Air' on the fuselage and just have 'Malta' emblazoned proudly. It would be lunacy for them to lose the Maltese Cross as their logo but a modern interpretation could look amazing.

Sounds very exciting, when is the media presentation going to be held? Are they also presenting a business plan, a road map on changes that will happen to turn back the airline to profit?

I have always thought that the KM fleet is somehow oversized... I see 2 or 3 E75 or E95 that can be used on regional routes.

Me too! Will the stabilisers actually be painted red though -- if they are white then that's going to take away a lot of the impact of all that red.

What a shame another iconic livery down the pan . Its looks awful . Cant help but think EUR1.9 would have been better spent elsewhere in the company.

I actually quite like it, makes a change. Red engines and stabilisers for the win.

25 Pe@rson : KM is a strategically 'stuck-in-the-middle' airline that will always struggle to survive given that it will neither achieve the lowest operating cost
26 bmibaby737 : Excellent refresh for once! There's quite a bit of detail on the engines & tail, too - which are not well represented in that photo above. Can't w
27 garpd : Quite spiffy. Not bad at all!
28 Post contains images Ideekay : Looks great! Nice that this livery is not a Euro-white one. The livery looks modern and is colorfull and I think its bringing a bit mediterranean feel
29 cedarjet : Don't like it at all, I'm not even sure what the name of the airline is now. Have they changed it to just "Malta"? Reminds me of BA's shortlived "Brit
30 Bralo20 : Have to agree with that, very nice change. Modern, a bit flashy, colorful and yet maintaining parts of the old brand. Can't wait to see it IRL.
31 HullCitySpotter : I quite like this! Well done air malta!
32 OA260 : Indeed . it would not have looked so bad if they had just kept to red at the back but this green and yellow/orange ''dash'' of paint just looks cheap
33 ghifty : What?? I like it! It's very clean and modern. Looks friendly, too. Huge departure from the previous livery, for sure. Not as classy..
34 Post contains images OA260 : Well we dont all have to agree. Some will like it some will not . Thats what makes the world go around different likes and dislikes. For sure we agre
35 Giancavia : Any ideas when its rolled out on the first aircraft?
36 motorhussy : Yup, pretty much as I thought!
37 skipness1E : Much more distinctive and noticeable, one cannot help but see where it's from. Also refreshingly different.
38 Post contains links lmml 14/32 : Here is Air Malta's new livery, coming September 2012 http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1DdT--if6XI
39 Post contains links and images OA260 : A closer look :
40 Knightsofmalta : What is not clearly visible in the picture is the pattern in the Maltese cross.
41 bmibaby737 : Looks like they've got "Airmalta.com" on the aircraft belly.
42 777way : It really suits them, the previous look was so drab.
43 qf002 : And on both engines...
44 Post contains images tymnbalewne : eh...I don't particularly like it. A for effort and creatively certainly but... The aft section is reminiscent of Avianca's tail if it was melting and
45 Post contains images OA260 : Kudos to you I was trying to remember what it reminded me of
46 bennett123 : IMO, it would have been much better to stay with red and white.
47 retrolivery : Agreed. It looks too much like if Avianca had a charter division. I really don't care for this new livery very much at all.
48 Post contains images ZKOJH : Like this a lot! Looks very fresh much better then some of the europen airlines out there,
49 tonystan : The whole scribbled "The airline of the Maltese Islands" is totally unneccessary and just screams of some dodgy charter logojet! The yellow tick looks
50 Vasu : Definitely an improvement (in my opinion)... planning a trip there next year so might get to fly on one of the newly-done ones! Any changes set for th
51 LostSound : Wow much better! The old livery was a hideous state.
