I am just curious on what exactly B6 meant by the following;

"Stretch out and relax by redeeming your points for an Even More™ Space seat. Plus, as an introductory gift for members earning the TrueBlue Mosaic badge in 2012 - 6 Even More™ Space seats.*”

With the announcement of TrueBlue: Mosaic jetBlue added this as a perk to the new Mosaic card. Does this mean more Even More Space seats are coming or what?

A320 I assume are staying the same then? I am quite suprised B6 would actually do that. Does this involve removing a row of seats? Will prices be driven up due to the removal of the seats? I thought B6 was a LCC why remove potential profit to add more EMS?

Don’t get me wrong I love that B6 is doing this but don’t enjoy the fact ticket prices may increase due to those extra seats lacking. I love B6 but if the price is high I won’t fly!

Im sure they are just recognizing that their 'Business' customers are demanding similar options to airlines that have a two class cabin. B6 has developed a following of Business travelers and while those who demand First class wont even look at B6 , im sure with a B6 price, the ammenities they offer (that most others dont) and a 'step above' their already larger Y seat, they can secure more decisions that turn into purchases.

No seats are being removed, just reconfigured to convert rows 13 and 14 into EMS on the E190. The "six Even More Seats" in the email I believe refer to 6 comp "upgrades" to EMS for new Mosaic members as a gift. Check online for more details.

I can only say that I found their service was exceptional for the price, when I did a New York - Orlando flight, and after flying from Orlando to Los Angeles with AA I wished they flew that route as well. After the JetBlue experience, I would pay a little more to get, well, service and a pleasant flight.

I have yet to see an airfare on B6 that I considered to be high, especially considering the service you get. It's cheaper than and superior to anything the legacies offer.

You realize most people who sit in the EMS seats pay for them, right? If you don't want them, don't pay for them - they don't affect anyone else's fares. B6 makes more money from those seats than they do regular economy seats - otherwise they wouldn't have them. (I am one of the people that pays for them - I'm 6'4", so it's more than worth it for me.)

Example: I paid $65 more for my seat flying JFK-SFO a week ago. That's $65 for an extra 4" of space. Assuming regular seat pitch is 34" (which it is), that's the equivalent of $552 just for the amount of space taken up by a non-EMS seat. According to flightaware, the average fare paid on that flight is $244. So B6 is more than doubling their potential revenue for that space with the EMS seats. Sure, they're giving away some of them, but most are paid for.

Anyway, on most domestic flights the fare difference is about $10 at most between airlines. I never understand people who complain about that. Service levels are not even close to equal airline to airline, so why are you sweating that amount? Why make yourself suffer over such a pittance? Life's too short for putting money over happiness even for a few hours. B6 gives you more legroom (even in standard economy) and basically a guarantee (if not an outright guarantee) of a PTV at your seat. I would pay *more* for B6 than other airlines. And you're worried about whether they're still going to cost a tiny amount less or not?

Like most other airlines, B6 is learning that it's the upsell that's where the money really is. There's a limit to what any airline can charge before passengers balk and as an LCC, B6's limit is probably lower than a "full service" airline flying internationally. But as long as they can double their revenue per the same amount of space, there's no reason not to do it on an even larger scale than they're doing it now. They should only stop when people stop buying the seats.

I'm tired of being a wanna-be league bowler. I wanna be a league bowler!

Already being done, not sure how many planes we finished though.

No, there will be no rows removed for this. The E190 had different pitches in the front vs. the back of the plane, a difference of one inch. The rows that had the extra inch are being brough down to what the rest of the plane had, the extra space gained from those inches are then being applied to 2 additional rows in the mid-section of the aircraft. Also, please remember that our A320's came with 162 seats initially, that went down to 156, then down to 150. It's not just being about LCC, but VALUE. For the price of an ecocomy seat, you are getting one of the best, if not THE best, amounts of legroom in the USA still for a standard economy (not EMS or economy plus and whatnot) seating. Also consider that if you remove rows, while you may have a few less people paying for the flight, you also have a LOT less weight which equals fuel savings, and in the case of the A320 allowed us to go from 4 FAs to 3 FAs...costs to operate the flight reduced. But again, this doesn't matter since the E190 will still have the same amount of rows.

Yuppers. Some of the more loyal folks that were flying for business wanted something a bit more, especially on the longer flights where they would be working on their laptops and whatnot. That, along with the potential for ancillary revenue equalled the shift in the A320 fleet, which was very successful, and that made the light bulb go off to do it with the E190 as well (although the EMS seats will not be in the front of the plane like the A320).

Awesome move. The E190 has always had a RASM disadvantage just because of its lack of EMS (8% of seats opposed to 28% on the A320). This will help narrow that gap, and will also make a lot of travelers very happy.

Kudos to B6 for continuing to innovate in ways that other airlines can't seem to grasp. With the launch of TrueBlue Mosaic and expansion of EMS, B6 management continues to execute incredibly well despite the headaches in the economy.
