Hello everyone,

I could not understand what "wingo" was so I decided to visit the web page shown on the ad (www.turkishairlines.com/wingo). It redirects to an error page and gives "404 - the requested page was not found" error. Some things never change.

Any more info on "wingo"?

It appears to be TK's new mascot. They use this 'Goose' to announce their promotional fares. IMHO, a very poor and childish attempt to build up your brand image.

Hey thanks for starting the thread as always.
Forgot to add my crushing news on recent news  DL suspending IST for winter.

Was in Istanbul from July 6th to 30 th, of course flew DL both ways. As much as I am pissed that DL is axing IST for winter, they had it coming. In my last 10 flights after the 332 service, I flew with the upgraded 767 2 times only. They kept sending non- mod 767 with the non-flat J seat, 10 year old menu, Y forget about it. At least they should have put the upgraded 767 with flat bec avod etc. it makes a difference.
Having said that I still am not convinced of switching to TK with their status match. I did a intra europe with TK and everything you guys complain about is 100 percent correct, like rest of Turkey ac is set to super high, everyone is sweating balls, there is zero consistency in service. I am sure long haul hard product is light years ahead of DL, but did DL always take care of me and my loyalty. Countless upgrades when Y is overbooked IROPS handled perfect super communication. Especially in IST they take care of their plats and DM's I guess because we areva dying breed flying IST.

As I am planning to move back to Istanbul, I will say the status match is great for me, was wondering if you lose your DL status once you do that, because I have a few more flights booked and couple IST trips before I Become a 1MM. Call me what you want, but after all this time it matters to me

I am amazed at maldives but I love it. If it lasts would love to go there with TK. So many go on their honeymoons there from Turkey. I guess this flight will be timed to connect with russian arrivals to IST for connections. Good luck to them. They will need it.

Certainly an interesting route and should attract some European transit traffic as its a popular destination. Hope it works well for TK.

You will still be able to keep your DL status and become a 1MMer after the status match. Also the Miles and Smiles Credit Card by Garanti is a great way to earn miles together with TK/Star Alliance flights. Good luck with your relocation to Istanbul.

Here is a short trip report on my recent IST-JFK and LAX-IST flights both in Comfort Class;

- in both flights Comfort Class was full 100%
- LAX-IST flight was actually 100% in all classes
- I really liked CC, awesome legroom, wide seats
- CC food portions are I think a little more than economy
- in both flights, "kofte" was served as usual! The flight leaving IST had good quality food, however the flight leaving LAX had poor food
- both flights did not have inflight WiFi and live TV. I think it is a bit misleading that TK advertises this all around but the airplanes are not ready yet.
- IST-JFK flight the FA was the best FA I came across in my entire aviation life, she was simply great in service and kept her smile all 10 hours
- In LAX when I boarded the plane, the plane was filthy!! Never seen something like this before. The seats were not clean: they had crumbs of bread on the seats, the floor wasnt clean, there was empty water bottles around and some seats did not have pillow some did not have amenity kits, some did not have blankets.
- LAX check-in was horribly slow, they need to do something about it

Overall I was very impressed with Comfort Class. It is at the quality of Business Class in most airlines. The only problem I had was that the seat does not recline enough. But then I thought, if it did, then no one would buy business class anymore. Way to go CC!

Yeah its a pretty awesome product compared to other airlines and for its price which is often only about $500 more roundtrip compared to regular economy.

For all those fans of TGS - Turkish Ground Handling which is a 50/50 JV between THY and TAV Airport Holdings, they will be expanding.

Besides adding additional domestic service points of Bodrum, Dalaman, Trabzon and Samsun, TGS will also go abroad.

Plans are for TGS in 2013 to expand abroad and initially offer above wing services at larger Turkish Airlines stations most likely in Europe first. TGS will also eventually start taking over cargo handling services for THY as well.

TAV is an airport group. That is not changing.

TAV simply has a partnership for a ground handling venture with Turkish Airlines called TGS.

What will happen is TGS now will expand beyond Turkey, and look to secure ground handling contracts at foreign airports a bit like Menzies, Swissport, etc… Initially starting in 2013, Turkish Airlines will turn over handling at some foreign stations to TGS.

indeed a very nice livery on this bird; however, we heard that MNG offered those planes to TK Cargo. If I'm not mistaken they have four on order.

on a side note, TK Cargo will receive another three frames
