Does Air India operate the B 747-400 still? If yes how many and where do they fly them to?

I remember reading about them being retired but it seems that they are still in service.

Thanks

According to airfleets.net they still fly five 747-400's. A sixth one (VT-ESM) seems to be stored.

Can't tell you where they fly, however a search on this site returns a recent picture of one in Frankfurt, however, a quick search on amadeus.net does not result in any 744 flights from Mumbai or New Delhi to Frankfurt.

EDIT: found one: Mumbai to Riyadh (Air India flight 927), is operated by a 744.

We no longer see them at Heathrow, which is really sad.

As much as I know two are still operated in regular service, two others for the government, the others are stored. The one thats been damaged due to an uncontained engine failure a few years ago is being used for spares.

Appear to operate between India and Saudi on a frequent basis, plus government work

I think total 5 in the AI fleet. 3 for VIP (Very Important Person) use, 2 are being used on Jeddah and/or Riyadh routes.

There are three in service. Two for VIPs.
Also, They operate BOM-HYD-BOM-JED
Also CCJ-BOM-RUH-BOM-CCJ-COK.

When AI pilots were under strike, they were used on BOM-DEL-FRA for a very short while.

Edit. Spellcheck

AI has 2 744s in passenger service, flying Saudi routes and the occasional charter flight. There are another 2 being used for Government/VIP work, and 1 which is grounded currently.
