Terrible incident involving Air Transat A330 today. However this is not the first airliner "gliding" landing (ie. Hapag, Gimli, Taca, BA).

How do FBW aircraft manuever under these conditions? Are they easier to controll than non-FBW aircrat? Is this the first FBW aircraft to land gliding?

Thanks

(just for the record... I feel VERY safe in FBW, and do not considere it an advantage or disadvatge, i just want to know)
