Per RST (Rochester, Minn.)'s Facebook page ( http://www.facebook.com/RochesterAirport/posts/419785511391540 ), there will be an "Air Service Announcement" tomorrow at 10 a.m. Start your guessing now...been kind of a bleak couple of years for RST with DL throttling down MSP-RST runs and G4 pulling out after only a year.

'Cause you're on ATA again, and on ATA, you're on vacation!

F9 with service to DEN is certainly possible, it would fit in with their recent new routes. I wonder if NK might consider serving RST? I wouldn't think they would considering they already fly to MSP, but you never know.

The 2012 SCASD grants that were recently submitted for this year (athough I do not believe that any have been approved yet as of this time) include an RST application for new service to DEN, via F9. They were seeking a fed grant of $500K, and had $225K in local contributions.
Quoting YNGguins (Reply 4): LAN has an announcement tomorrow as well.
I don't think that LAN had applied for any SCASD grants in 2012.
Now, the question with F9 is that could they possibly agree on the $225K local amount to begin service there? And if they do, could this mess up the $500K fed grant if they do?

AIRLINERS.NET CREW FORUM MODERATOR
I'll chime in as I have used RST in the past on a couple occasions.
My money is on F9 to DEN.
If it is with F9 mainline, this will be very, very interesting (I'm assuming so with the E190 pull down). American Eagle has flown to ORD for years, generally around 5 or 6x daily with ERJ equipment. I believe there was also a short-lived RST-DFW flight on ERJ equipment.
DL (NW) too has flown into RST for years, with anything from the Saab 340's to Avro's and DC9's. Current I'm seeing around 5 daily CRJ's to MSP. There also use to be a DTW CRJ for quite some time that connected to a morning bank, although it appears to be gone now.
Finally, Allegiant served RST for a fair amount of time with flights to LAS. I don't believe it ever got above 2x weekly (IIRC).
The airport has some nice facilities, not far off of I-90 and on the south side of town. IIRC there is six gates, and 4(?) jetways. They also have a nice assortment of rental car companies for a small airport - Avis, Enterprise, Hertz, Budget, and National. Mayo clinic is the main "draw" for out of towners. The airport also has free parking.
Whether or not RST can support a large aircraft to DEN even with connections remains to be seen. MSP is not far down the road offering low fares to DEN as well. If F9 is the new carrier I do wish the best to RST.

For what it's worth, the last time I spoke with the folks in RST airport administration (2 weeks ago), they did mention hopes of drawing G4 back, albeit to IWA vice LAS.

To throw more fuel into the fun ... historically, out of these carriers, Allegiant is the one most likely to announce two separate cities/routes on the same day.
Eternal darkness we all should dread. It's hard to party when you're dead.

And you are correct.
RST-IWA is now bookable on G4's website. Service starts 11/1 and is twice weekly Sunday/Thursday.
