They don't have the right equipment to serve SFO year round without payload restrictions. The flight would be better served by a UA 757.
As of new destinations, I could see BOS in the US happening, why not DEN. A little bit more far fetched would be DFW and ATL, they are large-ish metro areas with sizeable latino populations. TPA and FLL have been after CM also. In the Caribbean, maybe a new cuban station, a couple of islands in the mid-term. In south america maybe CWB and AQP; and someone said PVR in Mexico was going to happen soon...also, the eternal BZE question comes to mind. Is there enough traffic from Belize to South America to sustain this flight?
See the reply 98 into the current Central American aviation thread. UA is seeking one new destination heading to Panama City and UA SFO-PTY is a feasible candidate. It won't be attended by CM.
With respect to New York City area, Copa Airlines was forced to fly at JFK instead when the former CO was already flying the EWR-PTY sector.
Based on this philosophy, CM won't fly the IAH-PTY segment.

CM PTY-MVD is the longest non-stop flight for the Panamanian airline nowadays.
I've previously demonstrated in another thread how SFO-PTY is slightly shorter than PTY-MVD; following purely a straight line and disregarding winds.

SFO will be flown by UA,
PHX, as long as US is Star, seems that PHX-PTY (plus PHL-PTY and CLT-PTY) look like potential US routes.
Houston needs CM, but if CM is to fly to Houston it'll have to be to HOU and currently HOU doesn't have an in-terminal FIS:
MSY has been after CM for a while, Hondurans in New Orleans would love a tag-on to MSY from SAP.
DFW highly unlikely, but it's on my wish list.
Boston may be waiting for CM, CM @ BOS is a question of time. Rumours are that even PVD had contacted CM to bid on the PTY-Boston route.. PVD runway OK for fully loaded B737 PVD-PTY non-stop take off; IMHO, could only work if PTY-PVD morning, PVD-PTY afternoon because train link to Boston.
TPA, FLL have been in touch with CM. 4th PTY-MCO may operate to TPA.
JAX and RSW likely to contact CM soon, if they've not done it yet.

CM PTY-REC 4x weekly recently started on June 23rd 2012 and Salvador de Bahia was also taken into account as a new potential destination in Brazil.

As far as I know, CM PTY-YYZ is operating as 4x weekly due to the current constraints into the bilateral agreement between Panama and Canada.
I'd expect the CM PTY-YYZ on a daily basis prior to any new Canadian airport operated by the Panamanian flagship airline.
Interesting, When it comes to financial-related islands I've also thought of CGM on CM metal and BDA.

CM got the rights for both SSA and CWB. Seems CM will fly out of CWB with restricted B737-700/800 whenever CM starts that route.

Agree, BOS is likely to the or among the next CM destination in the States.
CM can't increase frequencies to Canada. Only option right now to increase frequencies is to add "scheduled charters" to YUL and that may not go well with CM business minded planning managers.
