Congratulation to all caribbean athletes! we know how hard is to keep fighting for medals even though some of them can not really count on sponsors etc... I saw a pic from Grenadians celebrating their first gold medal in history, I could feel their happiness coming from the pic!

Another incident on the 525 formerly 523. This is the same flight that PBM was running when it crashed. That flight is scheduled to arrive at 1:35am, I wonder it if hit an owl!! Great that all's well that ends well.

Good to see that another ATR has arrived. I hope that it helps ease the stress on the airbridge. How many ATR's will CAL be getting now?

They've decided to take on only 3 additional birds inclusive of 9Y-TTC. I'm hearing a 6th may be taken as well, but that's just another one of those unsubstantiated rumours.

The way I understood it was for the airline to take 6 and sell of the last 3, but we know how things go with these talks.

I started a separate thread abouth this as it has been discussed several times in the past, KL will start A330 flights to the Caribbean starting this winter season (October 28th). The frequencies are as follows (qouting member HB-IWC):

Thanks for the info, with the retirements of the MD11 we may see more A333 flying from KLM in the future?

I read this article and had to laugh. This guy might as well just say the GCAA is incompetent rather than "beating around the bushes". He should have told us who the industry observer is, or is he just making the observations himself?

Not sure why he keeps doing this, he has an agenda and I am not sure what it is. He has turned the business section of the newspaper into tabloid gossip about anything aviation in the Caribbean.

Thanks for the update guys. CAL seems to be doing great with flights, at any time I go on flightaware there are up to a dozen or more flights in the air. I hope things begin to turn around.

Good that T&T maintained Cat 1, didn't realize there was a possibility of a downgrade, but sometimes you never know. Any news of the loads on the LGW flights? Now that the Olympics is over and summer is winding down we will get a better perspective of how that flight will do. In addition, with the arrival of CAL's 763's costs will go down substantially I assume.

Great to see the third ATR getting delievered, but why does it still have the small air jamaica title on it? Also is -JMA full CAL livery or just a interim livery? Any pics of it?

Well, from what I've heard, the CAL livery may be applied outside POS. Also, as a result of Nicholas' stupidity, those JM liveries are painted for the most part and not highly detailed decals as with the CAL livery. Before the whole Nicholas fiasco, I remember Inbound talking about a revised CAL livery altogether to incorporate the takeover of KIN routes. That may be back on the cards.

Most welcome guys!

Also, 9Y-SXM has had T&T's Keshorn Walcott's name applied to the lower nose section of its fuselage along with a 50 yrs independence logo. I'm okay with it, but shouldn't there be the same for Usain Bolt seeing that CAL is also the flag carrier for Jamaica? Another reason why politicians should keep their traps closed.

I think it's to early to determine that. If the service reduces further, then we can say so. This is just BA adjusting frequency to seasonal demand. The service operated at 5x weekly for a long period before being increased to daily for a short while.

Thats the problem when politicians and not marketing people determine the airline's image.

Now they could have had a campaign celebrating the Caribbean icons...Bolt for winning six consecutive golds in two Olympics, Keshorn Walcott for breaking grounde in a sport that Caribbean athletes normally dont excel, and James for being the first OECS athlete to win the gold. Jamaica, TRinidad and Grenada...three of its four core markets.

Instead Kamla wants to play election politics by taking credit for Walcott.

POS has been a tag on to UVF for a bit of time. What ever UVF got POS got, but now POS is down to 5X. If POS is a business route it should show different patterns of seasonality and indeed the last quarter should be a strong period as busineses wind down the year and prep for 2013. If CAL does do 3X, depending on the days these flights operate, they shouild peal off some of this traffic as the nonstop will save more than one hour. 2X is too low to be credible in the business market.

BW to take delivery of its own 763s on Aug 21 and 24.

Any news on whether those are POS arrival dates or just delivery dates in Mexico? Nice if someone can post pics of their arrival in POS.

Wouldn't it be wise for BW to get some 737 MAX 7 series (together with the MAX 8) for their thinner routes, assuming that they are going with the 737 for their fleet renewal? Surely they are planning on expanding by the time the new fleet arrives.

One wonders, if UVF remains daily and POS is down to 5 weekly (plus GND remains with one flight weekly via UVF), where will the 7th flight go on to, or will it terminate in UVF? A UVF terminator could surely work for the tourist high season (Winter) after all, or else BA may reshuffle their routes a bit and perhaps fly all GND flights via St. Lucia. One also wonders whether TAB would see an increase in frequency over the winter. As for new BW and their LGW services, they do seem to be picking up so all the best with that.

Well VS will have 2w 747 to TAB tagged to GND, BA still has 1w in the winter schedule.
It was mentioned that Christmas CAL flights already have very heavy loads at 4w and the fall bookings are said to be solid. I truly want this route to succeed because the airline's operations depends on it.

I pulled this up from the PANYNJ today, which posted the June figures for JFK and all NYC airports and mentioned this
"YTD June International and domestic traffic grew 3.5% and 4.6% respectively, led by Caribbean Air and JetBlue."
JFK.PDF" target="_blank">http://www.panynj.gov/airports/pdf-traffic/JUN2012_JFK.PDF
Most of the growth was from KIN and GEO with POS and GND rounding up the rear.
CAL is ranked #9 largest carrier at JFK with 705000 pax travelling YoY.

There are lots of Eco stuff to do, check out Wonderland Tours, they are good, and Iwokrama is also a great place to visit, if you have the time.
