CNN News have picked up 10 of their favourite airport lounges:

1. Virgin Atlantic JFK Clubhouse, John F. Kennedy International Airport, New York

2. British Airways Concorde Room, Heathrow Airport

3. Etihad's Diamond First Class Lounge, Abu Dhabi International Airport

4. Finnair Lounge, Helsinki Airport

5. Lufthansa First Class Terminal, Frankfurt Airport

6. The Pier, Hong Kong International Airport

7. Qantas First Lounge, Sydney Airport

8. Qatar Airways Premium Terminal, Doha International Airport

9. Singapore Airlines SilverKris Lounges, Singapore Changi International Airport

10. Swiss Lounge, EuroAirport Basel Mulhouse Freiburg

Personally happy to see Finnair Lounge (non-Schengen) there, though the picture shows the wrong lounge (Schengen), similar desing though...

I have been to QR's First Class lounge in the premium terminal and it was nothing special except for good wines.

Which Finnair Lounge are they talking about?

The ranked one is their largest lounge, in the Non-Schengen terminal ("Asia wing") between gates 36 and 37.

Is this one better than the one at ZRH?

Yes its the design which makes it better IMHO . The catering is your standard LX lounge snacks. Not bad but nothing amazing.

Can't help but to notice there are no US airline lounges on here...

I am quite partial to Delta Sky Club in terminal D in Atlanta.

The Delta Sky Clubs in NRT are quite nice. Okay, they may not be in the US, but they are run by a US airline.

And the joint Skyteam lounge in LHR is also very nice.

Don't know where the Asiana first class at ICN ranks. But back in 2004, I was quite impressed with it.

Such a load of rbbish. I been to the top 5 several times and QF First Lounge is 100% better than all others.

I found the Helsinki Airport as a whole to be splendid. But the tier leading to the lounge was warehouse-like.

Dear Lord, please tell me you're joking.

Is it the fluorescent lights? The oh-so-comfortable seating? The luxuriously sized bathrooms?

The LX lounge at BSL was unfortunately timed. It was designed to serve the old Crossair hub at BSL which was inherited by Swiss and then shut down in conjunction with LX disposing of all their ex-Crossair Embraer 145s and Saab 2000s. The lounge is now far too big for LX's current operations at BSL and is usually almost empty. The last time I used it it was also starting to look like it needed renovation, especially the wood floors.

This reminds me exactly why "rankings" of this sort (like SkyTrax) are usually utter rubbish. They are entirely subjective, and only look at a few lounges as possibilities - I doubt the author of this "ranking" has been to all the lounges of the world to be able to compare them.

Personally, my favorite lounge by far is the TK Business Class lounge in IST. The TG lounge in BKK is also pretty nice.

However, I have never been in a F class lounge, and I haven't even visited 1/10th of the thousands of lounges in the world. So therefore, I won't authoritatively call the TK lounge "best in the world" - I'll merely say that it's a quality lounge.

I too have visited the Star/TK lounge in IST and found it be absolutely one of the best I've visited. The catering was amazing in terms of quantity, quality and diversity. Moreover, the dark theatre room was a nice place to grab a quick nap. And, despite the fact that they only have the one lounge, it has never seemed too crowded.

I am surprised that the JFK Clubhouse is #1, yet the flagship LHR Clubhouse (though getting a bit tired) is absent from the list.

Some of my favorites, in no particular order:

- LH FRA First Class Terminal
- TG BKK Royal First Lounge/Royal Orchid Spa
- CX HKG The Wing and the PIer
- QF SYD First Class Lounge
- BA LHR Concorde Room (T5)
- BA LHR Galleries First (T3)
- VS LHR Clubhouse
- TK IST CIP Lounge
- AC YYZ Maple Leaf Lounge
- UA HKG United Club/IFL
- OZ ICN First Class Lounge
- SQ SIN The Private Room
- NH NRT Suite Lounge
- SkyTeam LHR Lounge T4
- DL MIA Sky Club
- LH B46 FRA Senator Lounge "City Lights"
- LH MUC First Class Lounge

Been there last Saturday morning and it was packed to the roof. Could not find a seat. It's a great lounge in general but can't be compared to the First Class lounges on the list.

Indeed certainly is one of the best in terms of design but as below if its packed it can be a bit like a train station.

Indeed it was like you say built for another era. Shame really and it has always been quiet when I was there too.

Yes I love that lounge too especially the breakfast

Indeed I think when its packed it takes away from the enjoyment , if you cant find a seat you get a bad view of it.

The Frankfurt Airport Lufthansa First Class Terminal... definitely my Number One --- now that all the Concordes are grounded.

The Silver Kris F lounge in Singapore comes nowhere close to it.

Regrettably, I am not first class passenger, so I most likely will not experience most of those lounges. However, one I am looking forward to is the new AF lounge in S4 at CDG. While I know it will not stack up to the likes of LH First or QR Premium terminal, I do think it will be a nice change to some of the rather dreary lounges found at CDG.

A work colleague has already passed through it and loved it. Has anyone here given it a try?

Regards,

Team

Oh the divine food!!!!

A bit too many people in there - it can get really packed - but so wide and so well appointed... with nice staff!

Some of the pastries are to die for...

The AF 1st class lounge at CDG is missing also. As said by other posters, this kind of ranking is very subjective and might be questionable. The only thing for sure is that these listed lounges are all nice.

I haven't been to all of the mentioned lounges, but I have been to quite a few of the top ones. I have to say that SK's lounge in CPH is quite up there and the co-branded SK/AC lounge in LHR is nice as well.
